Note :“Mama,” Ozzy’s pet name for Sharon Osbourne, the mother of his children as well as his wife and manager, was the inspiration behind this song’s title-at the end of each tour, he tells her, “Mama, I’m coming home!” The song and its title were handed to MOTORHEADS’s LEMMY KILMISTER who wrote the song about missing home and returning, despite the dark history one has had there.

@@kevinsteadman7215 I know people like to bash on her but you are spot on. Without Sharon, there would be no Ozzy. And I think that is true even today. If something happened to her or had she been taken by cancer years back, Ozzy wouldn't last the year. She is his rock and reason for living.

About Ozzy's background: He and his Black Sabbath bandmates are from a gritty, industrial city in England called Birmingham. It was either work in the factories or find some way not to, and the band ended up being their ticket out of it. As for this song, it was co-written with Lemmy (from Motorhead) and Zakk Wylde, who's the guitarist on this track. So it's unclear to what extent it's about Ozzy's own mother. But either way, it's a hell of a power ballad! Next stop: "Close My Eyes Forever" (featuring Lita Ford).

As time goes on, you’ll get to know all of Ozzy’s most memorable and influential guitarists. Tony Iommi 1968-1979 Randy Rhoads 1979-1982 Jake. E. Lee 1982-1987 Zakk Wylde 1987-2009/Present Gus G. 2009-2017/Present In my personal opinion, it is Randy, Tony, Jake and Zakk that have all stood out and have that “something special”, but they are all worth mentioning. They all have left their artistic mark on his albums, and they all have shown that Ozzy 100% knows how to pick his guitar players. I could say a lot more, but i’ll let their playing fill in the rest of the words.

That's already a Black Sabbath song. I don't care for their version. That "We goin' through changes" is annoying.

Since my Mom passed, this song has been a regular tear-jerker for me at times. IMHO, his best song. It was merely a 'good' song - until Mom passed.

Mama I'm Coming Home is off of the album No More Tears which has a lot of good choices to react to No More Tears is a great song off of that album you could react to Plus you could react to Close My Eyes Forever" which is a duet by Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne from Ford's 1988 album Lita. FYI Lita Ford is one of the founding members of The Runaways The Runaways were an all-female rock group that included Joan Jett, Sandy West Micki Steele, Lita Ford, and Carrie Ann Curry I would love for you to react to Lita Ford as a solo artist or The Runaways as a group Cherry Bombs a good one
