Sorry you lost all those fish. I noticed you mentioned Petsmart , not sure how yours is by you but mine I will never buy fish from. If you have any non big box local fish stores it may be worth checking them out. The guppy grass ball is looking great 😁
@GCaquaticsАй бұрын
I agree with the petsmart thing, I went to my LFG and he didnt have anything so i stopped by petsmart and grabbed these. Mistake but it is what it is. The ball has since fallen apart but it did look cool for a couple days. Thanks for stopping by brother.

Dear Gabriel: If you want peaceful fish, go with Hyphessobrycon species. I’ve found that Colombian tetra (Hyphessobrycon columbianus) tend to ignore other species and only bicker among themselves. This usually doesn’t result in serious injury, but sometimes causes the loss of eyes. A more peaceful fish (which I think a school of would look fabulous, in your tank) is the black neon tetra (Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi). If you can find someone with a creek (or better yet, a dry, creek bed) on his property, who will allow you to collect rocks; adding free hardscape, to this tank would greatly improve the look. I’d remove artificial decor, once a natural hardscape is in place. Thank you for sharing this, terrific update. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar

I really do want to go out and get some rocks and possibly drift wood but i live in the middle of a city so wife and i will have to figure out some time when we can go out.
@ejbrinegarАй бұрын
Dear Gabriel: Unless you know the species and it is very hard wood, I would avoid collecting “driftwood,” from nature. In my experience, this leads to issues. Most wood is soft and deteriorates, quickly, in water. Also, unless it has been soaking in water, for a long time, many species will exude sap, which also causes issues. For me, the only driftwood worth using is Mopani. It is very dense and sinks, immediately. It is necessary, to soak it, for months, before use, however, as it has so much tannin. Be sure to test rocks, with agricultural vinegar (at least 45% strength) before adding them, to your aquaria. If putting a drop of this (or some, other, strong acid) on a rock causes a reaction, such as fizzing or bubbling, it is not “aquarium safe.” I hope you have good success, collecting hardscape. Sincerely, Brinegar

Sorry to hear of the losses, but don't discount the angelfish for eating thr neons. I had a single tricolor angelfish eat 30 cardinals one time in a matter of days. When you put the root tabs in you're going to see an explosion of your jungle val, so it's best to go ahead and put hardscape where you don't want it to grow, so primarily the front and middle parts of the tank, so the jungle val remains as a background plant because it's so tall. You can put big stones, wood, or almost anything, because if you don't, you're going to have a tank of nothing but jungle val, which some people want so it's ok if that's what you want. Wood and large stones are your best bets for keeping it taking over the tank, then you'll find it very difficult to find room for other types of plants like mosses, anubias, ferns, etc. Gluing moss along a big piece of driftwood looks great, and moss grows really fast with liquid ferts

Ya I think once the plants fill in s a little more then I’ll get more fish, need the line of sight to be gone. I ordered the tabs, just waiting for them to come in. Pretty excited about the future. Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you, I know it's part of the hobby, but it still stinks, I am looking forward to having a fully planted fully stocked tank in the future though. Thanks for stopping by.

Yea neon tetras are a fairly weak fish it doesn't take much aggression from other fish to kill them. You need more plants and a large school of them say 15 or so to help them survive better. Your gorami and angel fish are probably not friendly to your neons or your puppies
@GCaquaticsАй бұрын
Ya I can’t wait for the plants to get bigger so there is more coverage.
