Albania is a country with immense amounts of fascinating and devastating history - Tirana, the capital, is one of the best places to get a grasp on it.
In this video, we explore the city and some of its many relics from the communist period. This includes some pieces of architecture made by the former dictator's daughter, monuments to the many bunkers in the country, and a museum showing how the communist regime pulled off the mass surveillance of the population.
On top of this, Tirana is a bustling city full of unique buildings, public art exhibits and many bars and restaurants. It really is an amazing city to explore and one where you can learn just as much as you can have fun!

Hi! We are Marshall and Sabrina, a couple from Colorado who are eager to see the world! We quit our jobs and packed our bags to pursue a life of full-time travel.
Our travels began in 2022 where we spent a month and a half navigating through new territory and adjusting to living out of a suitcase. After taking a year to build up our savings, we boarded a plane with one-way tickets to Europe!

That museum looks wicked!! So true about how very little we are taught about those parts of the world, here in the western world. That way of life is so foreign to us but Its truly fascinating stuff! Great video!

Albania history in short. If it wasn’t for Albanians there wouldn’t been Europe ! From Alexander The Great to the George Kastrioti 🇦🇱⚔️

take the "eye sores" with a grain of salt bcs some ppl are on the opposite politcal party and whatever the party in power builds is apparently bad ^^. Also there is Scanderbeg statues all over Europe bcs bro was a mastermind of warfare, too bad a lot of ppl dont know much about him

Yes! I’m so glad we’ve been exposed to this history because it has made us incredibly interested to learn more. I’m slightly overwhelmed with how much there is to learn about these places we’re visiting😂 the Balkans is an amazing place!

No one sees the pyramid as an “eyesore” today….it was an eyesore before it was renovated since it was completely left abandoned and dilapidated. Now it’s a modern center for IT students.

@MarshallandSabrina Also that kind of cloud that you referred as an eysore , in reality is a piece of contemporary art, made from a famous japanese artist that was brought to Tirana, after being in the center of London for a couple of years. It needs to be cleaned a little bit now, but still a cool piece of art 🙂
