The Aunt Jemimia brand currently never brought the idea of racism to me. I in fact thought it was inclusive. She doesn't have the characteristic big lips and eyes or anything. The family of the woman who modeled for it doesn't think it's racist either. She posed proudly. I don't agree with just taking her out. Then we're just left with the super white pilgrim Quaker Oats guy.

@@florencedebear1576 Yes. That is usually how people describe a racial stereotype of a black person. I'm all for making sure every minority gets equal representation. The bottle to me and other people in my experience growing up just saw the image as a comforting one of the town "aunt" who everyone knows and loves because she is so kind and treats everyone like family. I never thought of her in a servitude mentality. If they remove the image I hope they rename or use a different picture, but I still like the idea of a black woman on packaging.

The world knew her as "Aunt Jemima," but her given name was Nancy Green and she was a true American success story. She was born a slave in 1834 Montgomery County, KY... and became a wealthy superstar in the advertising world, as its first living trademark. Green was 56-yrs old when she was selected as spokesperson for a new ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour and made her debut in 1893 at a fair and exposition in Chicago. She demonstrated the pancake mix and served thousands of pancakes... and became an immediate star. She was a good storyteller, her personality was warm and appealing, and her showmanship was exceptional. Her exhibition booth drew so many people that special security personnel were assigned to keep the crowds moving. Nancy Green was signed to a lifetime contract, traveled on promotional tours all over the country, and was extremely well paid. Her financial freedom and stature as a national spokesperson enabled her to become a leading advocate against poverty and in favor of equal rights for folks in Chicago. She maintained her job until her death in 1923, at age 89. This was a remarkable woman... and she has just been ERASED by politically correct liberals.

Just like the pastor that said slavery was a blessing for white people. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Some people are always trying to justify the suffering and inhuman treatment of others by putting a monetary value on it. This is NOT an American success story okay! “A wealthy superstar in the advertising world.” PLEASE! Do you not realize what her advertising represented? The images on those pancakes packaging were degrading, disrespectful and devaluing. She probably accepted the job in hopes of better pay and a better life for her family, not because she enjoyed it.

@ YellowandblueNile- Condolezza was referring to formal education, the dumbed down "education" the system offers up to those it meant to and continues to control and manipulate. Politicians absolutely never say anything that means what people take it to mean. This is why the Education system fails to teach proper Language usage to its students. But attorneys learn language. THEY know what they are saying. I worked with attorney firms for a good part of my early employment history (8 years) and trust me, they are some of the most amoral creatures on the planet. They KNOW they are putting one over on all their clients and they laugh about it behind the scenes. I used to wonder why every attorney I knew read so slowly....it's because they want to be careful what the meaning is because there is a secret language they use that we are not let in on! They must be careful at all times that they don't say or write the truth..

Human Earthling I feel very passionately that kids should be properly educated about not only language but communication. Bring back debate teams. Teach kids logical reasoning etc. Lack of adequate communications skills tears communities apart. The only good thing that happens in prisons is when inmates finally understand how to communicate. And by then it’s too late. It’s so frustrating. We can prevent this! Poor education is basically entrapment for the prison system. It’s gross negligence if you ask me.

They changed her appearance over the years to make her fit into societies' standard of beauty; it's the same thing they do in this day and age with airbrushing a darker complected person of color on a magazine to look more like a Beyonce or Halle Berry type of beauty instead of a Kerry Washington/Nia Long/Angela Bassett type of beauty for example. I experienced this when I worked as a temp (receptionist) at the dental office where I get my check-ups, etc. done which was in a predominately white town in NJ; my white co-worker said she had to be honest with me and told me the real reason I was let go and it was because the patients were complaining about my complexion (too dark - too much of a contrast I guess); this was my blunt racism experience without the complainer telling it to my face; I was shocked, but I just let it go (I've had other subtle instances - and it's such a weird feeling when you realize that it was in fact what it was). We are all beautiful in our different shades of skin that the Heavenly Father gave us!!! For the ones out there who don't like it, Tough; take that up with the Creator!!!

@Cabrones cabron Answer Jemima was a racist stereotype, speedy Gonzales is a racist stereotype but, Mexicans do we hot sauce, we do have charros at parties, and Taco Bell is pretty horrible and also, not Mexican, so wouldn't really care if it was gone. FYI, pretty sure it was only Americans that started celebrating 5 de mayo, at least as a national holiday, Mexicans may commemorated in some way but it's nothing to throw a party and get drunk about. Chef Boyardee and Mario, at least as far as I know, are not demeaning or racist stereotypes of Italian people so I see no need to get rid of them. As for that since his character, even the person that voices him thought that it was to Jesus to do anymore so he decided to stop voicing him so if they did get rid of him, who would really suffer? Lastly, think about what you said, "nothing will be left." So basically, if you got rid of everything foreign in the country and nothing would be left, doesn't that tell you that America is a country of immigrants? That a lot of the good things America has, it took from other countries?

Don't forget the societal-historical side of it: Slavery is in the US a deep societal trauma, not only for those who identify today as decendants of those who were enslaved, but also for those who identify as decendants of those who were the "owners" (or potentially could have been). This causes a deep-sitting feeling of guilt, and this may cause deep-sitting, hidden hate against the other group who is the "cause" for this guilt.

Trevor, you missed the whole point of this "remote" and longstanding border skirmish. It's over water and access to water. The Himalayas are the primary water sources for over 2 billion people (China, India, Pakistan, others). It's not two children fighting over a middle seat, but rather, the last kool-aid on a hot summer's day (if you want to make a joke about it). I still love your show, but you are very well aware of climate change and the desperation many smaller countries are already facing. This is what it looks like as the larger ones get concerned...

exactly, thank you for knowing this when all of the western media think it's just about a mountaintop whereas it's one of the few ways in. Tibet too, was a remote country in the himalayas before china invaded, turning them into refugees having to move and run parallel governments. A fate we are trying to avoid for the smaller towns and villages that are human settlements in the Himalayas, which just as information, aren't exactly remote. To the people of India, many of whom like me, love your show Trevor, having our issues called out as small feels like the only news worth talking about is American news. 20 soldiers martyred on our side and 45 on theirs is a news worthy story, if the US had lost 20 of it's soldiers in a fist fight with Mexico, that news would go on for days. Yes we don't need a world war, but a war between the two countries doesn't seem like it would even be worthy of a 5 minute segment on any late night shows. To us, it's bigger than another ex colleague calling out trump, once again.

BNN - Belmont News Network The world knew her as "Aunt Jemima," but her given name was Nancy Green and she was a true American success story. Nancy Green was a remarkable woman... and has just been ERASED. She was special.....

The name "Jemima " comes from the bible, the book of "Job" She is one of his daughters. It was not unusual for Black people to have names drawn from the bible. The name means "Dove". Anyone old enough to remember a show called "Beulah" starring Ethel Waters? Beulah is also a name from the bible. It means "Beautiful". Ethel Waters was a Jazz singer in her youth. She turned to gospel music when she got older. How about Mahalia Jackson the gospel singer. Mahalia means "tender one" in Hebrew and it comes from the bible. Aunt Jemima was not named for some minstrel show character.

He has made a " Deal " For Palestinians and Israelis... With the " Jesusleum deal " ... ( which actually in his election manifesto)...... Now with the new protests taking his sheen away... The " September surprise " had to be brought up... ////.. . Ever since " Howdy modi" and reciprocal Trump meet- n-greet in India.... The two have joined to help Trump his second term ....... When hydroxycoloquin was tom - tommed by Trump.... It was done by modi- n-friends channels...... When GM Tesla __ automakers were told....On a whim to make ventilators.... Next day flummoxed automakers were retooling their floors to make used parts ventilator in India... As they were told by the government.... The day the new York flypast happend..... The same salutation flypast was done for first responders in India also.....when the china tirade of Trump was started china hate was spewed by the same modi-n-friends channels simultaneously......Hence using his new found friend..... Has chances of catapulting him to his second term.... Hence my contention " ISKI BAR TRUMP SARKAR" This eponymous call by the man who neither minces any words not misses any timelines rings a bell...... And this flashpoint seems strangely too orchestrated to be untrue. To not help Trump. In a few weeks or a month (s).. We will see Trump sitting on a summit meet and mediating Xi and Modi. We can reconvene and open the bubbly ... This helps Xi Modi and Trump. Bolton's book on Trump is testament that this new world Flashpoint is to bring up the " September Surprise " And help swing the naysayers. It will reach a crescendo and then Trump will come victorious waiving a treaty in a summit meet.

I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it again: Trump needs to learn how to blend his face. You can’t have your ur neck being one color and your face being another. Like at least try. Or maybe is hair and makeup team hates him too. I’m that case, right on.

You're so right. His spray tan misses the bags under his eyes and the sides of his face near his hairline are not blended well. Don't mess with the make-up people or they will convince you to use spray-on hair like Steven Miller's in his famous TV interview where he looked like Count Chocula. They also need to do something for Bwana Trump Jr. the endangered species hunter, because he smears chocolate on his chin and cheeks and calls it a beard.

No. He'll forget the fear with a stronger racism. But there is a way … Well it's illegal but we called it "sensoriel isolement". Lock up alone in a room with nothing but a bed. No windows, no every light a at all. They can't see, there is nothing like a smell or a sound, no human contact, The guards bring you food through a pass, so it has no human contact. All these measures are prohibited by the Human Rights Commission, it is also super effective and when you have a terrorist attack, you do what you have to do. Guantanamo uses these methods, the Donald should go over there, a little surprise visit. Half of the military can't do it. He violated codes, covered up a war crime culprit and fired far too many highly regarded officers.

@@JBBrickman I do think that it's all getting a little too outrageous now. Sounds more like some sort of strategy. I wouldn't put anything past the big money donors and corporations. Instead of pretending to be fair and just this may end up dividing the country even further,However I do believe that those Confederate statues should have been taken down a long time ago,Mainly in areas where the consensus are people of color and where many citizens consider them as offensive. Maybe they can all be put in a Confederate museum somewhere because our history is still important. I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 60's during the civil rights movement and how we used to frown at pictures of figures like Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben after we discovered that they weren't figures of the real people behind the products but it didn't stop us from buying their products. This is a little over the top. They need to stop.... just stop!

We can't just give over the region in the Himalayas (ladakh, I believe) because that would mean a direct connection between Pakistan and China, two countries India has been at war with since independence. Influx of these two armies would literally be the end of the country. But yes, right now isn't the time for war. Both countries need to take a step back and find solutions to the current issues before adding another to the table.

Maybe you didn't see one in the seventies, but I sure did in the fifties and heard them on radio in the forties. They may have changed the picture to show a younger, prettier woman, but the red bandana on her head showed that she was the same old stereotype which said that black women were only useful as servants like cooks, maids, and menial workers.

I might be wrong but I heard aunt jemima was a real person who was a slave and her image (not sure about the name) and by our standards today made millions of dollars off it. I understand using the words on the box and the archetype its representing is racist but what if she was real ? Should we erase her from history for being on a breakfast box? Is Michael Jordan telling white people that if you eat wheaties you'll play basketball as well as him? I'm not against what they did but do we really know the story?
