This is one of the great British female singers from the 60's. She had such a beautiful unique voice & covered many genres (blue-eyed soul, pop ,ballads, country, jazz). "Son Of A Preacher Man" is her most famous song. But she had a lot of hits such as "Wishin' & Hopin'", "I Only Want To Be With You", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "I'll Try Anything", "The Windmills Of Your Mind", "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" & many more.

Great songs there. Fun fact : Cameron Diaz absolutely mangles 'I don't know what to do with myself' in a (deliberately) cringey karaoke performance in the 1997 rom-com My Best Friend's Wedding. The clip is on KZbin, - stuff of nightmares. 😳🤭 "Wishing and Hoping" is also in that movie, in the humorous opening montage. And the best Son of a Preacher Man cover I ever heard is by British soul singer Joss Stone, she was kind of known for it. One of the first songs I downloaded to a device as a kid. It's on KZbin. She's kind of my hero also for always performing barefoot; she hates fancy shoes and refuses to limp around in stilleto torture devices like other singers. You tell 'em, Joss! My toes and I applaud you.

This song. It was written by the brilliant songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Stan Getz recorded an instrumental version. Dusty was the first to record the lyrics. Many artists have covered it including Isaac Hayes and Nina Simone. If done right, like this version, it is a romantic song for dancing....and passionate moments.

This song, written by writing duo, Burt Bacharach and Hal David, appeared in the 1967 Bond movie, "Casino Royale" sung by Dusty and it was Oscar-nominated for that year's best song. "Wishin' and Hopin'" from 1964, went to #6 on the charts and it was also written by Bacharach and David. They certainly don't make 'em like they used to.

In the most recent edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, under the word 'gorgeous' it simply states "Just listen to 'The Look of Love' by Dusty Springfield".......This is the first vocal version of the Bacharch/David song, written for the 1967 Bond spoof film 'Casino Royale'. That trumpet at the end may have been played by Herb Alpert who was featured on parts of the film soundtrack - can anyone confirm?... Decades later the track was an inspiration for Mike Myers in developing the idea for the first Austin Powers film.

Hi, Jordan. This is sad, but you know those rugby players whose plane crashed in the Andes fifty years ago? Well, The Look of Love was one of the songs they'd sing to comfort themselves when they were scared and homesick during those ten long weeks when they were huddled in the wreckage of a plane. 😪 A couple of the guys would refuse to join in, because in their dire situation, dwelling on the simple joys of the past was just too a painful a contrast. A perfect, though extreme example of the vital role music plays in all our lives.
