Reg Presley RIP, the front man of the Troggs wrote Wild Thing which was a big hit for the group! However many Artists covered it including Jimi Hendrix!
@vicibox14 күн бұрын
So many people here seem to think this isnt the original but it is. Reg Presley, lead singer of the Troggs, wrote "Love Is All Around" in about ten minutes, inspired by a TV broadcast of the Salvation Army band Joystrings performing an evangelical song titled "Love That's All Around". The Troggs recorded Presley's song at Pye Studios for the record label Page One owned by their manager Larry Page, who also produced the recording. The single was released in the UK in October 1967. It was later famously covered in the Film 4 Weddings and became a huge hit second time round. Presley donated all the royalties to his pet hobby and organisation researching UFOs & crop circles ;-)

This version is not the original released version. It is a newer re-record.
@vicibox13 күн бұрын
@@tjwhitt80 Its just a remaster; hasn't changed substantially. Until recently I had the original on vinyl but gave it to my nephew when I lost my turntable. I still have family in Andover and remember the period well AND the mad crop circles ;-)
@jimcerqua11 күн бұрын
Not sure this is just a "remastered" version. The first time into the chorus he sings the first two notes differently than the original radio hit. Other things are different too. In my opinion, this is not as good.
@vicibox11 күн бұрын
@@jimcerqua That is how they re-master; they take the original tapes and transfer to digital (a process that does reduce quality I think) and bring up different parts in the mix adding stuff that they think is needed and choosing different parts to splice in that were chosen against first time round. As far as I can tell this recording was mastered for spotify 2021. Reg Presley died in 2013 and didnt record after 2012 when he was very ill. Most people now go back to the originals as re-masters are mostly compressed and "different". Google doesn't have any reference that I can find to them re-recording this a second time. They did leave a huge quantity of old recordings including the infamous swearing tapes.
@micks475 күн бұрын
@@vicibox A remaster is minor tinkering to enhance the sound quality. This is at a much faster pace and is missing the orchestral string backing of the original. His voice has lost its Andover accent too. It's ruined in my opinion. It's like an Embassy Records copy of the time!
