When he says he's scared to let the balloons go and watch them float away - he's so used to carrying his burdens and dealing with his struggles that he doesn't know who he would be without them. Change is hard, and the unknown is scary.

@@DonVon He's probably concerned that it would affect his music as well, since that's not only a common concern for artists/musicians who clean their lives up in one way or another, but for NF, that struggle is also central to his message.
@JaylLaf2 жыл бұрын
@@DonVon I say "probably," but he talks about that exact thing in Outro.
@TananJess Жыл бұрын
That's pretty spot on because when it's said that pain has always been the root of his music and if he changes that or fixes the issues will he be the same, the balloons are the burdens and if he let's them go he would no longer be who he is which is someone that people can relate to. If the music is no longer relevant then he would no longer be able to do it and the driving factor is that music helps him because it also is helping other people, he doesn't need fame because he has fans or fam people that have been rockin with him from day one. It's all about what the brand says "REAL"!

My theory is everyone has there burdens, and fake smiles.. these are his fans, being able to move forward because of his music but he’s still left behind. His demons and troubled life have made him, to hard to let go of the things that got him these fans, but in the end he’s trying.

Back in Intro II, "Satan keep callin me, he tryin to flirt. I hangup the phone, these are more than just words." Here, Fame is clearly relative to that of the devil. Which is why he sent Fame this song and said that it sucks cuz the Devil, aka Fame, doesn't want to Leave Him Alone. In addition, NF handing over the balloons is symbolic as letting God handle the burdens, or regrets, and is referenced in the song "Change." The line to look for there "Lord forgive me, you can have the regrets."
@RyanelSanchez2 жыл бұрын
@CreamintheCoffee much appreciated! My wife and I are very active Christians and I went full on detail as how NF likely took inspiration from the Bible. Like, how many stories will prophecy an individual(s), and vice versa, but with NF, it's with future songs since the Mansion album. "One Hundred,", from the Perception album, was hinted in "Intro." Point is, you'll find references everywhere. Story telling at its finest with this artist/author.
@butato12 жыл бұрын
Dont think the fame line is about intro 2, in no name he said fame called him, because on perception album he blow's up, but aint ready for the fame, and in leave me alone HE called fame, and NO NAME is a younger song than intro 2

I think the smiles being wiped off is a symbol of people stopping putting a happy face on to the world and getting help. Possibly connecting the white suites with a psychiatric hospital patient. He has said in another song that the Dr says he needs meds but he's scared to take them so he's in this video stuck in the middle. As far as him letting the balloons go I think he means he would have to talk about them and that makes him vulnerable. Especially without the crutch of his burdens

In No Name he said fame called, hung up on him, and that he wasn't ready for it and will get back to it in album 4 aka the search album ( ironically the search album went number 1 on the charts) so he literally did respond to fame with album 4

This my theory. The people in white are people in the process of healing. They have their burdens and their masks(the makeup) but slowly they are getting better. And he's watching them get better, release their burdens, remove their masks. And this is an internal debate on weather that's worth it for him. Will he feel better sure. But will the music suffer for it. If he deals with ocd, and losens his grip. He also loses his music.
@joelharris3632 жыл бұрын
So much of Leave Me Alone is about the anxiety he has running through his head. He's a perfectionist with obsessive thought patterns. When you are meticulous about your craft, all you see are your flaws and there's always something to improve. Even accomplishments become tiresome because what you see are the mistakes. Additionally, fame brings about many more layers of critics, phonies, and pseudo-friends. These voices offer critiques of your work, questions to your integrity, and fickle people who will turn on you with one wrong move. If you already struggle with a loud inner critic, this will only make things exponentially worse. If you're searching for peace, it will be hard to find in the midst of all the internal and external noise. You will see this theme hit again when you get to Only.

They are all people like him getting help. The search starts the journey. He’s now in a facility to get “better” the tents that look like carnival tents represent nurses. Here is my original take. I have seen my comment copied by others on other reaction channels: Nate is still Searching, pushing his mental shopping cart prison around with his burdens attached, closely dragging behind. The people in white likely represent his fans in various stages of mental health themselves. Some still hide behind their fake "Joker" smiles, pretending their lives are fine with the appearances they present to the world and social media. Others, have been inspired by Nate, and are going to get professional help and are beginning to come to terms with their own flaws and burdens (wiping off their smiles in line). Some have let go of most of their burdens, and some fans still carry around a few burdens, but not as much as Nate; which is his "Perception." Furthermore, Nate references that "he'll drop a song out of nowhere and all the fans embrace it" (as all the seated fans are eagerly listening, waiting for new music and point, in unison, at his burdens). The following scene shows the symbiosis of Nate's fans helping him by literally being behind him and helping him into mental recovery (pushing him in his shopping cart) while simultaneously following him and being inspired to get help themselves. I think the tent with black clothes being exchanged for white represents people discovering NF and that they aren't alone. They don't have to wear black and be plagued by their burdens forever. Being a part of this community of NF fans that are real and raw is helping them and inspiring them to come into the light (white clothes symbolizing purity). They come out with no fake smiles, but don't necessarily smile for real still, because they are no longer faking that everything is ok. They have become "Real", embracing "Real Music" and "Real life" on the road to healing. The older man sitting in the cart, is old NF that we have seen in a few other videos, assuming he never lets go of all his burdens and grows old with them. Fame is again, referenced. The phone rings at the beginning (Fame is calling) and it ends with the phone still ringing; fame calling again. TBD on if Nate gives away a few of his burdens to the man behind the veil wearing white. I take that as GOD.

Well said. I’d add that to me the title “Leave Me Alone” has a double meaning. He wants the voices in his head, the doubt, his burdens and fame to leave him alone but he’s also afraid if they do leave him alone and he lets go of those burdens that the fans will also leave him alone. And that he doesn’t want. So he feels stuck in the middle and unsure if he should let go some burdens. That’s why he’s looking back at the fans before handing them off.

So I have no evidence for my explanation of what you were asking about, but here's my theory. When Nate says "I should let them go but I'll be more afraid" I always took that to mean that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. Sometimes it's easier to hold on to the familiar even if it hurts you because you don't really know who you are without those burdens, like they've become part of Nate's identity. When he talks about calling fame back he sends him this song entitled Leave Me Alone. Nate has often said in other songs he doesn't want the fame so that's why he's sort of telling fame in a backhanded way to leave him alone because he doesn't want the fame, he just wants to make music. As for the visuals I think you're probably on the right track since I've always struggled to understand the visuals myself so I won't claim to understand that. 😆

At the end Nate pull exactly the number of balloons scene on the porch swing attached to the head of his Mom is on in SEARCH..... maybe the two balloons are his burdens he carries for his guilt thinking he let his sisters down... Now forward to the begining the to the end of this vid...as a phone rings 'I wish I just picked up the phone... I wish Il'd of called' Nate finally forgives her... perhaps? also I believe the two women Nate taps on in the last scene represent his two sisters at their current age as the 2 balloons(2sisters) and Nate presents to his Mom's outstretched hand that represents 'givingiT2God' in order to heal from it and move towards his Search for True 'FREEDOM'... those 7 letters the 'Map2Hope' will lead him to... ? ;)

My theory in regards to this music video is that everyone has burdens and fake smiles (everyone wearing black) and they enter this carnival and as they go through it they are being medicated (which is why everyone is walking almost like zombies) and they end up in white suits with their smiles wiped off. He makes a reference to this in his later songs where he states that he is afraid of taking medication because it might change him. Old man in his cart might be a reference to himself in the future where he didn’t get the chance to get rid of his burdens and he’s stuck alone? That is definitely up for interpretation

Let me explain the exchange between NF and Fame. On No name, he said he hung up on fame and would get back to him on album 4. Now we're on album 4, Nate said he felt bad for hanging up the first time. So, this time he just sent fame this song. Song is literally called. Leave me alone. He's not hanging up on fame, but he is still telling him , I want nothing to do with you, leave me alone. This is why Fame gets mad and tells him the song sucks.

I’ve got a wild theory. Did anyone notice that when Nate is talking to the group about being “underrated” they’re all kids? When he says “all the fans embrace it” I see it as young kids will literally just follow anything and everything that’s cool in the moment (that’s why they all point in unison). Maybe I’m looking at it too deeply, but I don’t think Nate is saying these lines in a positive manner. I think he’s worried that he’s not as original as he’d like to be, since a lot of his fans blindly follow him. Idk. I’m hurting my own brain here lol.
