So Percussion: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

The minute its members were ensconced in our office, So Percussion started borrowing items to add to its set, from an amplified cactus and bells to a mug filled with spare change and an empty padded envelope. The ensemble performs original pieces and the works of John Cage at the Tiny Desk.

I was a percussionist for about 12 years before I started to appreciate this kind of music. I'm not saying that's a solid number that everyone has to reach (people I know fall in love with it immediately), but that I personally had to learn a lot before I knew how to process stuff like this. While I don't spend a lot of time listening to it, my definition of music has really broadened in the past few years.
