A boat wake is *not* rough water. Come to lake of the Ozarks some weekend and ride the wakes of 30-40 foot cruisers plowing the main channel and get hit from every direction by real waves. Tritoons actually do very well at Lake of the Ozarks , are very popular, and we do own one. But to call this video “rough water” is actually pretty funny.

That is a plowing wake off the back of a 42’ cruiser it’s like a 4’ surf wake because we intentionally ran the 42’ boat to create a larger wake

Those waves were absolutely massive. They had to be at least 6 footers. I was thinking of buying a 30-foot Boston Whaler, but I may have to reconsider.

The misconception about Tritoon boats is that they are only good for small lake boating. This video was just to prove they can with certain brands can take on a busy inter coastal waterway, heavy boat traffic and in some cases slight offshore use. I’m not trying to prove a Tritoon can handle seas like 7 foot on short periods.

What we're not seeing here is that the pontoon boat is not carrying a family of 5-6 like you would normally see. Anything that light is going to glide through waves with no problem. I'm on a large lake in the northeast and I can tell you that pontoons will not handle the rough stuff while loaded up, not to mention how grossly underpowered those things are which will not get you out of a jam.

I don’t know if your realize it or not, that’s a wake off of a 40’ cruiser that we intentionally made extra big by plowing. That boats wake was 3-4’ from top to bottom and we aired out the pontoon boat at 35 mph and it was smooth as butter

Tritoons do handle moderately rough water very well. However this video proves nothing. A small boat wake isn’t considered rough water. I have 23’ tritoon I use in the Tampa bay and shoreline Gulf of Mexico and it handles common waters great. When the chop starts to get 3-4 feet with 5-6 foot spacing it gets rough and everyone gets wet.

I brought my 16 foot bass buggy to the atlantic Ocean, in Rhode Island, in 2-4 foot swells! I was was very surprised how well it did. Also, I towed a bow rider that was taking on water.
