In terms of the lyrics, the musical arrangement of this song, and Diana's hauntingly beautiful vocal performance, it's a wonderful portrayal of the eerie atmosphere of big cities and their many a strange people and "lost souls" awake and wandering around late at night, something I experienced very well when during my student years I used to drive around in Hamburg, Germany, at night as a taxi driver on weekends 👍👍

Marina Tsvetaeva wrote these poems after a breakup in a love relationship. And it’s about loneliness and loss of love for a loved one. This is a sad story from the life of a poetess when she could not sleep from experiences and wandered around the city at night alone.

Thanks for your reaction. This song is a poem by a Russian poet named Marina Tsvetaeva over a hundred years ago.
Please check out Diana Ankudinova's recent songs "Thank You, Forgive Me" and "Oh, Don't Cry". Both are written by her, and both were released in the last month or so! And both are amazing!

Saludos.

👉 Close your eyes, listen, enjoy… This is pure magic! Diana's voice so soft, mystical, hypnotizing, seductive, melancholic... It transports me to another world. Diana's interpretation of this poem is phenomenal. You can hear exactly how she „sings“ that important hyphen. I want to hear this wonderful melody, these profound words and Diana's velvety voice on an endless loop. ❤❤❤ Music - Brandon Stone Poems - Marina Tsvetaeva Arrangement - Brandon Stone * The Russian writer Marina Tswetaeva (translated: Flower, *1892 Moscow - †1941 Yelabuga) is one of the most important poets in world literature and was born in Moscow in 1892 into an upper-class, wealthy family. A carefree youth came to an abrupt end with the death of her mother (1910) and the outbreak of revolution and civil war (1917-1922). She was unprepared for the world outside. Her assets will be confiscated as “non-work income.” In 1912 she married Sergei Efron; They had two daughters and later a son. Efron fighted against the Bolschewiki, and Tsvetaeva was separated from him during the Civil War. Marina Tsvetaeva was a woman with excessive passions, born into a world that had completely lost the measure of humanity. There are many evil depths in Tsvetaeva's life, often stemming from her narcissistically disturbed personality. They don't really fit into the image of the romantic poet, the sensual lines of her poems. Even her most loyal friends were often deeply shocked by her behavior, and fans of her poetry still are today. Despite all the adverse living conditions, everything she ever wanted to do was write. During the period of hunger, she gave her daughters to a children's home out of necessity. Her second daughter starved to death there. In her notes in German (wrote since 1913) Marina Tsvetaeva sketches her hard everyday life full of poverty, hunger, deprivation and worries. At the same time, she thinks about writing and how things begin to shine. “I see everything in my own way.” With every syllable she felt like she was leaping over space and time. Her romantic principles were the dominance of emotion, the dark and the fateful. With her language experiments she goes further than many other poets of her time. “The hyphen has an accelerating effect - in a mysterious way.” wrotes Josef Brodsky (1940-1996, Russian-American poet and Nobel Prize winner for literature) Marina Tsvetaeva was enthusiastic about Germany, but of course during the First World War this was in complete contradiction to the anti-German sentiment in Moscow. However, her love for Germany as her “inner fatherland” has nothing to do with political Germany. The enthusiasm as the land of Goethe and Kant appears often in her work. She emigrated to Berlin, Prague and Paris in 1922 and found her missing husband again. Tsvetaeva was shunned by the Russian exile community in Paris. She was no longer published after she declared that Mayakovsky was the poet of the future. They were worlds apart but she recognized his originality, his own tone and his radicalism. In 1939 Tsvetaeva returned to the Soviet Union. But the return home was full of horror. All doors were closed. The wild, backward-looking poet is seen as an obstacle to building socialism. Her husband was executed and her oldest surviving daughter was sent to a labor camp. When the German army invaded the USSR, Tsvetaeva and her son were evacuated to Yelabuga. That was one stroke of fate too many. Shortly afterwards, on August 31, 1941, she desperately ended her life and hanged herself. Her grave is still unknown today. Three years later, her son (18) died as a soldier in 1944. She left behind an extensive body of poetry, lyric dramas and prose works. He is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, lyricist and arranger. Brandon is also a professional jazz pianist and a top-notch producer. His musical life began at the age of 3 with piano lessons. In 1997 he began studying jazz pianism at the music academy 'Hans Eisler' in Berlin/ Germany (he lived there with his parents). After twenty years in Germany and a few years in the USA, he now lives in Russia with his wife and two children. Brandon Stone prefers an interesting mix of styles both as a composer and as a singer (jazz/soul/pop). His melodic songs as well as high technique, emotional intensity and honesty of performance, his wonderful voice (3.5 octaves) and charm helped Brandon Stone to become popular in many European countries, America and Commonwealth of Independent States. He sings in Russian, English, German, Spanish, French, Hebrew and Georgian. Stones song “Magic Cristmas” became the #1 Christmas hit in Spain in 2002 (age 22): kzbin.info/www/bejne/laW7c6pjpLWgp68 and even overtook the song Robbie Williams. In 2005, Igor Krutoy personally asked Stone to compose and produce for the New Wave. He did it from 2005-2010. Stone has already composed ca. 800 songs and sold around 2,000,000 records, mostly as a composer or lyricist, mainly in the former CIS countries. In Georgia (Europe) he is revered as a singer and artist, as a folk hero. Stone has received many important national and international awards and prizes. In 2018-2020 he was nominated for the Victoria Prize (Similar to the Grammy. Dimash and Krutoy won the 2019 Victoria Prize). Since 2019, Brandon Stone has worked extensively with Diana. Diana's first CD of songs composed and produced by Stone, released Dec 2021, was certified Gold in June 2022. (www) * Brandon Stone’s channel: - kzbin.info/door/5UizewwhiJueG52uHx1uVg

PLEASE react to her live performance of HANZ ZIMMER’s TRIBUTE “She performs with a full orchestra of the OST DUNE”. It’s so powerful. Be prepared to be AMAZED. See you on the next one ☝🏽. Greetings from Scotland! "Why was the title in French?" It is not, if you get the videos from Diana's channel, but all have multi-language translations. "В огромном городе" (Pronounced as V'agromnom gorod'ye) "In My Huge City" from a poem by by Marina Tsvetaeva. If you are an insomniac, you may spend a lot of time walking around at night when everyone else is tucked up asleep, at home in their beds. Basically, that's the story she tells here. Beautifully sung by Diana in that naturally deep, chocolate toned, silky voice of hers. Set to music by Brandon Stone. Originally from a poem by the famous Russian Poet, Marina Tsvetaeva way back in July 17, 1916. Insomnia. In my enormous city it is - night...

You seemed to be having some technical difficulties. A few times the sound from the song dropped out. Then again when you started talking your voice seemed over loud and 'brassy' (probably not a technical term) . And of course only you had a french title. Lol. This is one of my very favourite Diana songs so i was sorry you didnt like it. 😢
