Nothing new...but I respect your honesty in describing what happened. That's one more mistake to learn from. I recently lost 4 clear nights just making small mistakes but I did learn from every mistake I made. BTW, I also got ASIAIR Mini for my AZ-GTi setup with EvoGuide 50 ED. Keep up the good work. Well it may not have all gone to plan but i guess you’ve learnt a lot for the next attempt. I like the idea of the star soft filter to enhance things like the iconic southern cross.

We will have to see how the next session goes with this. Sometimes being so used to automatic focusing and software like NINA you forget to check other things. Also the plate solving is something with the asiair I need to look into more I feel.

My guy I have the skywatcher GTi and have that same tripod, how do you like the tripod I find mine is a little wobbly, and yeah I’m getting the funds together to get myself a Samyang 135 f/2 to use in my bortle 4 skies

Yeah I love my tripod. It’s extremely solid being a 13kg payload capacity carbon fibre tripod. Shame it’s not made anymore, it’s a Vanguard Arctus :) I’m sure that 135 F/2 is going to be a cracker. What camera are you going to use with it?

@@StevenMorrisPhotography atm I’m using my canon 600D until I can muster the funds for a dedicated Astro camera, the 600 takes good pics as before now I was using my Celestron 4SE’s go to mount to track (when it wanted to) and shoot pics with a 55-250 kit lense, had a couple of good nights with it but want something better so slowly putting the new rig together, I tossed up between getting the 135mm lense or a Sky watcher 62ed, gonna get the 135 and perfect it before moving on to the big boys toys, I’m only a noob to the craft as I’ve been just a visual observer but I just love the thought of capturing a beautiful nebula or the perfect star field

i Also have the Vanguard Arctus, do you use the rubber feet or the spikes, im thinking once i hang my power box under it might sturdy it up a bit apart from that its nice and lite and easy to set up

I lost one of my rubber feet when imaging a seascape. Ocean was to rough to try and find it so I use the spikes. I call it old faithful that tripod. Yeah adding some weight might help lower the centre of gravity and create a more stable base.

I feel once you get the 135 you won’t go for another widefield refractor, you might end up going for something with a long focal length. Nothing wrong with DSLRs that’s for sure.
