Hey, by the way, I had to move the dovetail bar way back to get it balanced with a camera on the back. Otherwise it was very poorly balance fore and aft (very back heavy). I had to remove the thumb screw under the focuser or the bar wouldn't sit flat on the ring. Even at the end of the bar with it under the focuser, the balance is nip and tuck with a Sony A7 III on it. It's sill a bit back heavy and that's without the focal reducer.

Hey Steven, was that camera fully astro modded or just Ha? Also, would you mind please sharing your processing workflow for that shot? The only other question is what Bortle number your site is. Really great work. I already have the GTi but have only used it with a camera and lens with mixed results. This is the rig I’m look at but using an Olympus E-P5 body because it’s so tiny and only weighs 420 grams. The Olympus camera with that scope, that mount and an ASIAir Mini should do me very well, I think. Any advice would be appreciated.

That’s gotta be the best looking rasa in my humble opinion. I think this has been a good 6months too since I’ve been able to go imaging. The weather has just not been conducive to it so took the time to strip and clean my mount. Can’t wait now to try it out in earnest. I do like some Talisker too, that’s a good drop 😊

Thank you, as long as the other RASAs look the same I’ll call it successful lol I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who hasn’t had the chance to image. I hope you can get imaging soon yourself too. I may have topped up the glass after the video 🙂

Hi, I need some information about the tracking mount you are using (or what's out there). I have a Z8 and planning to buy either 14-30 or 17-28. Will do some astro with that too. However, I have zero knowledge about the tracking mounts. I visited some websites but don't know where to start. Please advise. Thanks

Good job! will you ever make a model with curved vanes in order to get rid off the spikes? thanks
@StevenMorrisPhotography9 күн бұрын
That's a good question, the idea was there to do so however the design itself is quiet complicated these days that I'm not sure if I can unpick the design and go back to the center obstruction to create the curved cable channel. It may require a complete re-design. I will look into it more and see once I've finished trying to design a filter holder mechanism that allows for ease of collimnation without the need for an FCCT device.

Still going with my side retaining wall and fence, the holes are challenging. They are 450mm round and almost a meter deep. Digging them is taking some time with the clay soil and hot days.

Hi Steven! Just wondering if you could confirm something for me .. I’ve got a 8se and having a hell of a time aligning it using the recommended auto 2 star alignment …. There’s nothing mentioned in the manual or any video I’ve come across and that’s if if you’re in the southern hemisphere do you need to power on the mount with the scope pointing south? The CPWI software on the laptop mentions pointing to north after entering location etc (Auckland) in my case … any suggestions? Gah!! :)
@StevenMorrisPhotography9 күн бұрын
Sorry I've only just seen this question. Is your 8SE mounted on an EQ mount or are you using the ALT Az mount it comes with? It's been a long time since I owned my 6SE on the Alt Az mount, I generally pointed it in the southernly direction. Let me know how you get on.

Have you any thoughts on the Evolux 62ed compressor to the WO Zenithstar 61ii?
@robvercouteren2 ай бұрын
This is great information as a starter. When i connect the USB to the mount and a pit the switch to on nothing happens. How did you get this to work? (I have a small 12V powersupply and when that is connected it turns on, however it will only work in the sysnscan app, but not in NINA. )
@ebc89782 ай бұрын
Very helpful video. Wondering if you have experienced this problem: Using NINA to plate solve and find objects, I find that it seems to "fight" with the CPWI software. When I command a slew to an object from NINA it will go to the object, or near it, and continually reposition. It seems that the CPWI is also telling the mount to move but not agreeing with the final position. I use the Celestron Starsense autoguider but don't engage guiding at this point. I have been connecting NINA to the mount (CGX-L) using the CPWI option rather than the Device Hub Telescope (and, yes, have experienced disconnects as you mention). Any suggestions other than to try the Device Hub Telescope route? Thanks.

@StevenMorrisPhotography9 күн бұрын
Oh man the SMC project, this project has tested every aspect of my triple setup design. Short answer is no, it's not completed. Some data issues and alignment issues have cause the project to be on back foot. I'm still determined to complete it and I will..... It might just be a little bit away, plus I want some more data on the data I already have.

@@dougiesmart1623 110mm refractor, what make? Refractors are beautiful things.
@dougiesmart16238 күн бұрын
@@StevenMorrisPhotography mine is just the StellaMira 110ED. Arguably, it's an achromatic refractor rather than an apo as it's a doublet with one FPL51 lens. Quite decent results with it, but would love the Askar 103 triplet with 0.6x reducer to make it a smidge more speedy. I used to have a Skywatcher 200PDS, but never really grasped collimating it very well.
@StevenMorrisPhotography8 күн бұрын
Ah yes the flaw with Newts…. Collimating them, that’s mostly why I don’t own one…. Instead I play with RASAs lol. Speedy scopes certainly do help with data acquisition. I’m currently trying to plan a galaxy or small target rig. I’d assume mid year before I can build it but you need to dream right?

Great video! I know this is an old video but I just found your great channel and will be getting into astrophotography with my Nikon z50. I've been reading about the internal intervalometer and I've seen that in order to get a 30 second exposure you have to set your interval time longer than 30 seconds so I'm just wondering if you could tell me what you set your interval time to in the z50 to achieve 30 second exposures. Thanks!

i had many issues with the phone app, the goto function never worked well, now im using Green Swamp server to connect to the mount and Nina, my main question is, everytime i want to change target, do i have to go back to park position before changing? otherwise it seems like the mount goes over the meridian and the gears just gets stuck in the limits, did you encounter this problem too?
@antoniomariomagalhaes25214 ай бұрын
Steven, thank you for a very helpful, hands-on video. Just got my SA GTI and AsiAir+ and am trying to connect everything. Question, if I may: you connected the AA+ to the GTI's USB port. I've seen people using instead the GTI's Hand Cntrl port w/ a cable w/ an RJ45 connector at the end. Is that immaterial for operating the mount w/ the AA+? Thank you!
