Awesome vid - Can you do a tutorial on pinch harmonics?
@rakman_guitarjams Жыл бұрын
There’s plenty of decent tutorials out there already so do a quick search. But the idea is to use a tiny bit of thumb flesh in addition to the pick to achieve a pinch harmonic. So you’ll need to shift the pick very slightly in favor of the thumb to pick the string with both flesh and pick. Turn up volume and gain bc these make pinch harmonics come through better. Play around till you get it and try to practice that technique on different strings, as different string thicknesses will require a slightly different pick orientation. After you discover the right method once and practice it, it stays with you no problem. Have fun!

Tbh there's not really anyway to explain it perfectly it kinda just happens by trying it till you get it. You stick a tiny bit of the side your thumb on the left side of the pick and you simultaneously pick and hit the string with your thumb at the same time. You have to angle it your pick slightly down aswell so that your thumb makes contact.

Trust me man figuring it out by yourself is the best just see a basic tutorial and keep trying
@chuckp34211 ай бұрын
"Pop" the string whilst almost simultaneously muting the string with your thumb - bend or vibrato for accent. It's really trial and error. You can bend the string and quickly hammer off for quick chirps.

Your knowledge on scales and guitar tips is legendary. Like, maybe there's better guitarists (heavy on the maybe), but I don't think I've seen someone with your ability to teach it. This channel is crazy good. Love your work man. Thanks for bringing a little bit of magic and music back to the cesspool that is the internet, and to our lives!

There’s really only one scale: the chromatic scale. Now you can choose to leave out certain notes if you wish, or use them all; you just have to always be aware of how they are functioning against the background chord. Here’s an example over a Dominant 7 chord: 1-3-5-b7 are the chord tones which are the “safest” notes; you can sit on them all day. Next are 2-4-6 (aka 9-11-13) which are scale tones from Mixolydian; also add in b3 (which almost always should resolve upwards to 3) and b5 from the Blues scale. Now you have this: 1-2-b3/3-4-b5-5-6-b7. These 9 notes are the most “inside” and usable notes over a Dominant 7th chord (in a Blues). Only b2-b6-7 remain, and all three can be used as chromatic passing tones (in the right context). Note that b5 (Gb over C7) against the I chord will become b9/b2 over the IV chord (Gb over F7), and is pretty much essential. Both b6 and 7 are useable as chromatic passing tones. - So find yourself a simple Blues backing track, and start seeing if you can make every note work in some way. You can! It’s doable! Every note is useable.

So, from what I've gathered, triads are essentially just breaking down each note of a chord and playing it as a scale?
