Stegosaurus These iconic plated dinosaurs lived during the Late Jurassic period, which ended approximately 145 million years ago. The Late Cretaceous period began about 100.5 million years ago, meaning there's a significant gap in time between when these two dinosaurs existed. Tyrannosaurus Rex, on the other hand, is a true Cretaceous dinosaur, but it lived towards the very end of the period, during the Maastrichtian age. This was millions of years after the Stegosaurus had gone extinct. While both Stegosaurus and T-Rex are fascinating dinosaurs, they were separated by tens of millions of years of Earth's history and never coexisted.

It's really crazy to hear facts like this about deep time. The entire Mesozoic era lasted 186 million years. Humans have not even existed for 1% of that time. Stegosaurus went extinct and was already fossilized by the time Tyrannosaurus existed.
