I loved watching this film last year when it was on another page, highly recommended! Shirley Mason’s sister Viola Dana starred in That Certain Thing (1928) another Frank Capra silent for Columbia!

That’s why she looks like her then! I just saw that Certain Thing a few days ago and started watching this. It said Shirley Mason, but I thought she looked the same as Viola.

In the early years, Frank Capra was about the only real good thing Harry Cohn had at Columbia. But Cohn still demanded Capra make his films on shoestring budgets. Shirley Mason was a winner in this fight film.

Everything Columbia did almost a century ago was on a shoestring budget. When Cohn borrowed William Haines from Sam Goldwyn for the highly-rated ''The Midnight Express,'' Haines joked that the film was shot for the price of ''a ham sandwich and a pickle.'' Yet within a decade; of it's founding, Capra directed ''It Happened One Night'' for Columbia's first Best Picture Oscar. Happy 100th Birthday, Columbia!

"Motion Picture News," February 4, 1928: "Frank Capra started camera work on the final scenes for Columbia's 'So This Is Love,' in which a prize-fight forms the climax. The director used the American Legion Stadium in Hollywood as his setting for this scene. Film shots were taken between rounds of a professional match. Several ex-pugs appear in the cast."
