Thank you for this 😁 I've loved Cinderella for pretty much all my 22 years of life and this is one of my favorite songs from the movie. Ilene had such a sweet soft voice that could put you to sleep. I read that when she was still living and with Alzheimer's she couldn't remember that she was Cinderella but listening to the songs always put her in a good mood 😄 P.s. I couldn’t agree more! My parents exposed me to music from their childhood (70s/80s), and I became so used to it that I wanted to expand my music genres. I started listening to early 1900s music roughly 10 years ago, and I fell in love with it. It’s because of these artists that we have so many individuals in the music industry today. People still have voices like this. They just aren’t singers, or if they are they aren’t celebrated on a large scale like the current pop music. We have the internet, and it’s easier than ever to start making music and creating. There’s not as much control over whose voices are invested in, what songs are played on the radio, or on music streaming apps. I’m thankful that some music executive can’t limit what people are listening to. If I want to listen to retro I can, if a man in Milwaukee wants to make a Bee Gees cover band using only kitchen sounds he can, if a Brazilian kid wants to rearrange the Nutcracker suite in the style of a Japanese noise suite, she can. Anyway…. Point is I love modern times.

I remember dancing to this in my room as a child. My childhood was very painful so I dreamed of one day finding love to know what real love felt like. I can tell you I found it after I found a way to love myself for all the things my parents hated me for. For just being me. I'm happily married to the man of my dreams and we are about to celebrate our 7 year anniversary 🥰💕 to all the kiddos who wonder "does it get better?" It does. You deserve love and happiness too.

Lord, I want to dance to this song with a man. Been single for 7 years. Never thought to get out of the house and meet people and was insecure with how I looked. I was the awkward girl with acne in school and had colossal challenges with self esteem growing up. This carried over into my early 20s. And with the pandemic changing the social fabric as we knew it.I’m kind of worried if I’ll ever meet anybody. I hope he’s out there. I wish to see him one day and pray he feels the same way. Whoever he is, I love him already ❤️

My sis got the Cinderella VHS when we where kids. We watched it EVERY SUNDAY afternoon for a year or two. We memorized the whole movie and took turns being the characters. We got so good we would mute it and dub over. Years later when the youngest is in his mid twenties, we can all be on the phone on a conference call and still recite the entire movie.

Couldn’t agree more! Truly was a fabulous generation; my great grandmother who born in 1925, survived Pearl Harbor, and built battleships as a riveter in Hawaii’s dry docks. While it wasn’t perfect back then, I still find the early 1900s to be quite charming (music, pop culture, etc.). Thanks for stopping by 😌👍

The point I was trying to make is peace after war. They seemed to sing about love a lot. Those were some bad wars. My sample size may not be big enough, but it appears to be a part of multiple cultures.

Very similar to “Return to Normalcy” after WW1 where countries tried shifting from war production back to regular industry and life. Singing about love and romance was a popular trend back then, and it reminded people of positive times and memories. So, it makes sense that this song, which came out right after WW2 would be so uplifting.
