Yk I heard ratatoskr say this on a stream recently and it feels very accurate. “dd feels like an example of a dev who accidentally stumbled on greatness but didn’t get why it was great, which is why dd1 is so disappointing” we thought dd2 meant way more new stuff and a fully realized game but nah it was just dd1 remake with less charm, mostly the same enemies, a land of furries, and a tiny elf “village” if you can call it that. It’s frustrating because not only was I meat riding this game when it came out thinking it would be peak, but also I know it could have been peak and it just wasn’t.

@@forrfuun8470 i normally would've agreed but using consumables especialy throwables in DD2 would have been really good, especialy against slimes and other monsters that you cant fight without magic or long or range. Now, i dont say they were good in dd1, periapts were op, enchanments were mostly useless for the lack of magical monsters, but significant for vocations like a solo warrior who cant enchant or has bad elemental weapons And i really hate the food variety in DD2, with the stamina options being mid at best, and the mount of health specific potion, i miss when there were spring waters that heal nearby allies, from pawns to npcs. And when i think about it more and more, i want throwables Badly in DD2, that can make a significant upgrade to some vocations. Even more than normal stamina and hp consumables

If the universe ever materializes Dragons Dogma 3 I hope it’s a more focused experience. A dense labyrinth instead of an open world and ironically mounts to traverse that labyrinth. More vocations or maybe do away with them and have a weapon master be your main character and pawns only have one vocation. Balance the game around that. Hell maybe we need more indie devs to make Dogma-likes. I’ll be getting MHWilds regardless because I always have gotten the newest MH.

Guys don't compare an 2004 game that made tons of its own genre in under 23 years and won While Dragon's Dogma could've done more in a span of 10 years, Dragon's Dogma 2 came out being one of the best game. Wilds looks amazing, and MH being their biggest money maker it makes sense that's where the beefier budget and bigger team would go. As time goes on from DD2 I have gone from "that was ok, I hope they add more content and update it and make it great" to "this was a test bed for Monster Hunter and I no longer have interest in DD". The game isnt even bad, but if they dont do an expansion that is absoloutely incredible I am done with DD, in todays market DD feels like it didnt grow with the times at all, all its improvements are superficial and as seen, are getting lifted into MH, it needs to pull something out to set it apart from other open world RPGs. Like even something simple they didnt even attempt, like could they not have added armour coloring or something considering the whole concept of sharing pawns so you want them to look custom? There is actually no evidence for that claim, its just some tinfoil hat conspiracy that people use to cope about a product that they feel didn't reach their expectations. MH has been around for a LONG time, it has the benefit of MHW and MHR to build off of. The MH series was small and grew very large over time, they get to have this win without DD fans being all pissed at the MH division. Please just don't. Capcom nurtures their dedicated fanbases, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter are great examples of very niche games from niche genres. They could have dropped Street Fighter after 5 and they could have given up on Monster Hunter at any point but they didn't. I am a diehard monster hunter fan, But it's really not right what they did to dd2 in some regards while a good game its predecessor outshines it in a lot of regards. And it's sad cause no other RPG does it like DD or DD2 for that matter. But at least dd2 got a lot of exposure and I'm an optimist, It didn't sell bad so maybe Capcom will try to give it another chance fingers crossed. But they reuse assets from MH1,2,3,4 still to this day, I assume they're still using the same engine which only makes it easier and any gaming company wants to cut cost cause they're all run by business men instead of actual developers unfortunately. The movements aren’t precise at all and it’s an unfriendly game to learn. Never a good story or compelling characters either. Not to mention it’s repetitive, grindy and has overcomplicated mechanics. Dd, and dd2 are much more mechanically palatable games with better gameplay and it sucks to see them not getting what they deserve for the sake of yet another grindfest.

I don' think the game looks and runs especially good so far tbh. It's somewhat of a blurry mess, many textures look really bad and players said it often fails to maintain 30 fps on console.
