Bungies issue with developing Destiny as shown pretty clearly by how different these Twitter takes are is that they can’t settle on a lane to be in and are trying to be an arena shooter fps, an MMO, a borderlands looter shooter, and a collection game all at once which is causing them to trip over their own feet in development when they move more towards one of these styles in opposition to of the others. When they make it more competitive it ends up hurting the looter shooter side. Etc etc.

This is a good take. Many people have realized that Bungie is trying to make Destiny far too many things, when it's lost most of its core identity. It's fine to want to be all those things, but it's failed at most of them, and the ones it maintains being are struggling to hang on.

what i saw about the d3 trending was more and more people realizing that D3 isn't going to fix the reason why d2 isn't working. like having the same people making destiny 3, that are killing destiny 2 is just killing destiny 3 before its launched. the whole "reusing old content" argument felt like a weird dodge because i like having the old content brought forward to utilize new mechanics, but its completely beside the point. Destiny 3 will have the SAME issues as Destiny 2 has if the same people are in charge. Destiny 3 would, likely, end up being worse off than destiny 2 was at launch. As long as pete is still in charge ANY future for Destiny is a failure. frankly, the only way i can see Destiny moving forward and surviving is if another studio handles development independently of bungie even if that creates a completely different game feel to what destiny has now, so long as its FUN to play, and i say this because with them axing 27% of their employees both leading up to and directly after the launch of the best content drop we have had in YEARS... Bungie simply can't do whats needed to make a Destiny game that was't DOA.

Also I’m gonna push back a bit on the into the light as a point on the graph in favor of Rng over crafting is a bit disingenuous due to into the light leading into a the big expansion, being free, and being the return of some of the most coveted weapons in Destiny history. I think a lot of people sucked up the Rng grind to get those guns because of just how powerful they were. I know I was fucking begging for fucking relief after my 17th 3/5 on a fucking Luna’s howl. Also Borderlands has target farming for specific guns from specific bosses so that’s also not a fair point of comparison when Destiny without crafting doesn’t have that. I agree though that Destiny shouldn’t have replaced its loot system with crafting but instead should have doubled down on improving its Rng systems with repeat protection and target farming along side other improvements to their rng system instead of trying to last minute replace it. I think in the same way that the classes lost their identity with 3.0, I do agree that Destiny as a whole lost its identity with crafting but they don’t have a good alternative to crafting because they haven’t been investing into their Rng drop systems while using crafting as a band aid.

@@mr.gamincounselor they fixed the Rng nightmare in the past. They should bring back the re rolling from D1 where you can re roll one perk but that’s just my opinion honestly. Because then you can salvage 3/5 or 4/5 roll which still gives the Rng chase for different rolls other than say one roll for PvP or PvE whatever you can take it into the perk re roller and then for materials you can re roll one perk not pick the perk but re roll for endgame material cost

Reasons I think Destiny 3 should be the next step for the Destiny franchise: 1:) We are starting a new saga and a new game for the start of a new saga 2:) All of the content would be new 3:) Destiny 3 could be made as a looter shooter MMO with an all new gaming engine 4:) It is just as bad to release a new game every year like CoD as it is to keep a game like Destiny 2 going on and on for different reasons

If their going to make destiny 3 they need to take notes from Digital Extremes that created warframe. Warframe lets you kill hordes of enemies which makes you feel like a god. Not including the high numbers of damage that pops up. Let are guardians become a god in destiny 3.

Agreed. As a relatively new player I can feel the constant progression with every mission, quest, and MR test. Whereas in D2, I barely feel any stronger in the EDZ after 7 years than I did when Ghaul first kicked me off his ship. Sad.

destiny 3 NEEDS to launch with all the elements and prismatic or atleast it should be free. We could discover another source of power outside of light and dark. It needs to launch with strike specific loot including armor like in D1. last but not least it needs to launch with random rolls. Preferably with a crafting system where once you use a gun enough you unlock the ability to craft it with whatever perks you unlocked for it. (unlock perks by leveling up a weapon with perks you dont own). all non adept weapons should be craftable just to make the grind more easy to manage with tiny vault space. all adepts should be able to reshape their barrels and mags

Did you watch video? I say in it that bungie as it is now couldn't do it. D3 would not be the difference. Sony would have to run the show. And pull other teams to help make something new. A TRUE MMO is the only thing that would justify the 3. If it's just the same game it's just d2 with new paint.

d2 pretty much reached end of life for many regardless what bungo promised lately. I do want a d3 but I dread grinding gear all over again. Getting Too old for that. if there is D3 (and assuming it is somehow good, that bongo is not tone deaf) I might just pay a booster to grind. Like isn’t Gladd around 35 or so? I get that people look back at Destiny 2 Vanilla removing random rolls and think "random rolls = better," especially with crafting allegedly "killing the grind." What they fail to acknowledge is how ancient and overdone a bland engagement design choice like "random rolls" ends up being. Especially in a live service environment where games NEED to respect player time. Devs crossing their fingers that players want to bash their heads against RNG is too old fashioned and tons of players just don't want that. I also get that people find crafting to be "too checklisty," but that really comes down to Bungie 1) implementing a bad crafting system, and 2) not balancing it against the RNG that players supposedly prefer. TLDR: If you hate both, do you still play anymore and if so why?

No, really it's only the dumbass D2 content creators asking for a D3 believing it will bring players back so they can keep on making Destiny content and get paid for it. D3 won't solve shit. It will only divide the community even further. And when D3 fails, Bungie will close, and Sony will move the developers to other studios. People are quitting, not because of the state of D2, but because they said they would, after The Final Shape was over, they would not stick around, no matter how D2 evolves and goes forward. All they're going to do is tease us about putting down Fikrul once and for all, and then they'll do what they did with Maya and magically yoink him to another area. (And if you think after all the moaning, groaning and assgrinding we did in Echoes was bad, I guarantee you Revenant will be worse). This isn't Bungie innovating, it's Bungie scrambling. Scrambling because they know people will chase the carrot no matter how unsatisfactory the nibble they get might be. Except this time there's no good expansion. Just more Seasonal drip feed, with even worse timegating (one of the core complaints). And of course New Lights won't understand it because they didn't know that we used to get good, consistent and frequent releases. And the future looks even worse with how far they're spreading content out. And their message? "Tone down your expectations and take mercy on us, for we are a small studio." No, they're a greedy studio, one that flew too close to the sun. All that's left for the last of the wax to melt before the fall.
