This is wicked. No question heads put in more thought and time into what they were creating back then, especially when what you're working with, like reel-to-reel tape, is so expensive and you couldn't just keep redoing and deleting stuff on computers without worrying about cost. For the same reason, and this is no disrespect, I think a lot of the stuff coming out today from new artists is half-baked. They're going into the studio with the mentality, "Let's just see what comes out." There's no real preparation or vision. On the other hand, think how much thought Jeru and Primo put into "Come Clean." That's why it's timeless. Respect Primo. Love the series.

Second verse of Come Clean is one of my favorites of all time. Matter of fact I remember the first time I heard Come Clean. I had this thing it was like the world's first music streaming service was called DMX. It hooked through your cable box and it came with a remote that had a little screen on it that would tell the song playing, the artist and the album the song was on. I heard so much good music through that service. Lords of the Underground, The Pharcyde, Jeru, Onyx. That little DMX box made it possible for a teenager growing up in Colorado to hear new Hip Hop. I didn't have Hot 97 and radio didn't play real Hip Hop back then. Salute.
