He definitely solidified Fred Durst in the hiphop community. He got mad respect after that, and he could spit better than alot of rappers too. And he a real one, reached out ome of my homies when he was comin up here in sweden and did a remix with him on his hit song ( rock away ). That was very big for us at the time, he showed love to tha fam outta nowhere. So he always family in my book, but regardless of that, he definitely a legendary artist. And that cut with Meth is a certified classic.

When that song came out I wasn’t a fan of Limp Bizkit, and at that time was hating on it for no real reason. Obviously a huge fan of both Preemo and Meth, but them alone wasn’t enough for me to buy that album or single or play that song while I was out djing. Glad Dj Premier decided to work with LB because it sounds like it allowed him so many more opportunities that he otherwise wouldn’t have gotten.. and at the end of the day, that’s the name of game. Opportunities. Shout out to Fred Durst for being a hip hop head, and not letting all the haters like myself stop him from making his mark.

Shout out to Limp too. They really didn’t ‘’need’ Primo. The record was 90% completed and it would have been a hit regardless of who put the finishing touches on it. You can tell earning Primo’s respect and securing his involvement meant a lot to Fred. Even after he initially rejected them. Primo didn’t do a ton here, but he definitely helped make the track come alive. This collab no doubt bought premo the biggest checks he’d ever seen up to that point, and it opened a lot of doors for him.

I was a ‘wake up show’, Rawkus Records, Ughh, underground 9th grade hip hop head at the time, and I remember rap purists being livid over the Fred Durst & Primo collab. They lost their minds and called Primo all kinds of sell outs and such. I was just happy to see Preme get some much deserved recognition and shine. It was a trip seeing Primo on TRL everyday sandwiched between N’Sync and Britney Spears videos. Beat knocked and Meth floated. Fred did his best, lol. Still play this regularly. I grew up a huge fan of Limp Bizkit, but I was way more into their metal stuff. Hip-hop was never really my thing, but a few years into listening to them, I started appreciating how great this song is. Now, 20 years after discovering them, I've outgrown a lot of their music, but this song remains an absolute favorite. The beat, bassline and keyboards are an amazing combo, and although there's a very 90s feel to the song, it never really gets old. It has stood the test of time, and absolutely will continue to do so. Great job!

@johnzackarias11 3 жыл бұрын
@@CirvjaEfekts Good question! I've only listened to it twice so I'm not in a place where I can make a deeper comment on it. I will say that the extremely short run time of just over half an hour is *super* disappointing. They've had over 10 years to work on a record, and they give us thirty minutes? The music itself is pretty good, I would say. It's a pretty broad mix of everything they've ever put out. Have you listened to it?
@ext93
@ext93 3 жыл бұрын
@@CirvjaEfekts I thought it was lame. There's songs that just don't fit in with their sound. The album opens heavy and there's a few good tracks, but after so many years I expected better. The album doesn't have a good flow. It's missing the magic of Sam Rivers' and John Otto's infectious grooves. I get that styles evolve over time, but something is missing, and it just doesn't hit the same way their first 3 albums hit. They could have done much better I think

Before Linkin Park, one of the forerunners of rap-rock, nu-metal, there was Limp Bizkit. You have to give credit to limp Bizkit, at some point they branded MTV, and they created a bridge for Rap and Rock of the new generation at that time of the 2K era, 2000's created a symphony of styles and Limp Bizkit was at the forefront. I mean just look at this interview, a well known name DJ premier, who at some point didn't see Fred durst and the band, as someone he could connect with, but it turns out that it created many avenues and connections between people that would never have come together. This is one of those classic singles that just brings good vibes. It also shows you that everyone can eat from the cake and be happy and have a good time. Very good episode, looking forward to the continuation.

This amazing story. As much as people want to hate on Fred for the image and music he made in that Era. It's easy to hate and mock I still think he's a cool dude, even now looking like a dad and doing concerts 😂 love primo and meth. This was my favorite song back then.

People always need a band or artist to act like they hate. But then they forget how much influencs those people have on the industry. Fred produced Mudshovel for Staind, imagine if they never changed that song and didnt go big like they did.

@@Illyrian_Adventures I don't agree. I had the 12" back when it came out so always knew it was a Primo joint. If I didn't know that I wouldn't of thought it was a Primo joint as it sounds like a lot of other producers work from the late '90s. To me it doesn't really have that signature Primo sound, but that's just my honest opinion. Def looking forward to the story behind it though. Peace!

Goes to show that a great producer is the key to making classics. There’s a lot of rappers who rhyme better than Fred Durst, but some of them have never made a song as good as “N 2gether Now” because they don’t have the right production. That’s not to say that having an equally great rapper on a great beat isn’t important, I’m pretty sure that’s why Method Man was also on it. The point is without the right producer, there’s no way your music is gonna stick no matter how nice you are. Fred Durst isn’t necessarily a great rapper, but he did well enough to make a classic song on a classic Preemo beat and that’s more than we can say about a lot of these so-called “real hip-hop” artists, especially in the last decade.
