We further get hints of this in the Fullbring Arc with his Swastik esc power when unlocking it originally. I feel like Kubo was just trying to hint the reader in the worst possible way; If not however, then it was a poor design choice overall for Kubo even if he meant for it to be the opposite as we now know the Quincy's are basically Germans.
