I'll take 36 mpg in a truck anytime. Got any people out there pointing at you saying ," Oh look ! There's that crazy wood truck again ! "

36 is fine in my book for still learning to drive it! So far only one guy that saw the toyota stopped me at a gas station last week and he liked the dodge better. I do to its a pretty clean look compared to the toyota's more ratrod appearance

Hey, just getting into learning the basics and trying to make sure I prioritize my building of all the gasifier mini projects. Since you have a lot of gasifier related videos, please direct me to where I need to start. My truck is a 1998 WT1500, 4.3 V6, 200k mi, the original V6 locked up, so I just bought another V6 to go back in, I also have a 1991 1500 with the 305. Both are 2WD's. Thanks for Sharing G_Dub

Thats pretty impressive on that wood truck. Heck that truck says it "Identifies as a Prius" with the mileage to prove it. LOL Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya PS Also you're helping the environment by not burning all that gasoline. 😁😁😁

Awesome build Marcus, I pretended lit up my gasified for the first time today. Still have a few things to work out before it’s up to fueling the motor cycle . I’ll get a video up soon and I’d like it if you can take a look. What’s your hearth temperature at? Edit , I uploaded a few seconds ago.

Loved this! Might want to consider getting a radar detector to mount on your dash .. it's saved me many times. I have one in my truck and my wife's minivan. Those tickets will also increase your insurance costs. Have you tried pulling a trailer loaded with anything yet? Usually people can gear down .. but it would be interesting to understand the power of pulling. My diesel gets about 13-14 mph. New it got about 16 with nothing in the bed .. I put an aluminum box on the back so it blocks a little wind and is carrying a little weight. Another suggestion I have is .. think about building a step for the back .. so it's not so much effort to get up and down. I built the back bumper on my 3/4 and used some leaf spring to build a hanger which hooks into a 2x2 square hole in the bumper. The step is made from the middle round part of a bud rim with some expanded metal covering the axle hole in the middle. It has a bit of "spring" when you step on it and is easily removed when needed. Projects I know .. but hopefully it will have you safer. Big dead pine tree fell from high winds last night onto some sheds and used windows .. it's going to be a "day". 🙂 lol

I pulled my car trailer last week with about a half a chord of Doug fir slab wood on, had no problems at all. The back of the bed still isn’t finished, and it will get a integrated step eventually. I’m starting to get enough things on the dash and I still haven’t put the gps and cb in it 😂

Very interesting video. Would be cool to have an on-truck wood shredder, a large wood hopper and dryer, heated by waste heat from their exhaust pipe. All it takes is time and money!
@BigBeavrSlayer
@BigBeavrSlayer 2 жыл бұрын
A shredder makes a different type of fuel, but im looking out for a pto setup to hydraulicly power the chunker so I don't need any gasoline at all. A few guys are using the exhaust to heat the next batch of fuel, but it's also very advantageous to use exhaust heat to preheat the air going into the gasifier
@omaha42000
@omaha42000 2 жыл бұрын
@@BigBeavrSlayer Yes. Our English language doesn't have enough special words so we'll go with "chunker". If this were on-truck, it could be powered by large geared down 12V DC motor, but it might be necessary to upgrade the alternator. Wood could be green/wet and yet steadily dried with plentiful waste heat from exhaust. By the time green wood reached bottom of hopper, it might be dry enough to use. I'm only guessing - I defer to your experience.
@BigBeavrSlayer

@@omaha42000 on a larger heavier work truck or tractor that makes a lot of work generated heat it can be done, drying wood down to 20% moisture content between batches. That is the struggle is a system that functions well on fairly wet wood and why I went with the Wayne Keith design. I regularly run 10-30%mc wood with no problems
@BigBeavrSlayer
@BigBeavrSlayer 2 жыл бұрын
Also keep in mind any engine running on woodgas, burns the gas more efficiently and has less heat loss through the exhaust. For instance on gasoline my toyota with a 180° thermostat runs at 200°f coolant temp. Running on woodgas it will barely crack the thermostat open and wants to run at 160°f. A full 40° less then gasoline. Less heat loss, more energy recovered from the burning fuel. And that temperature will rise drastically if the timing is not advanced to burn the woodgas correctly

For the seals ro keep from tering from the creasote, try coating the side you dont want to stick with silicone grease.
@BigBeavrSlayer
@BigBeavrSlayer Жыл бұрын
I give then a smear of grease every other day and it helps, but these lids are cheesy and the clamp is tight and will squeeze out the grease easily. My other woodgas truck uses a neoprene gasket and it has worked perfect for almost a year now. Need to find some of those to go on this v10 truck

@@Longtrailside thanks! This one is a lot of fun for a work truck, but my little toyota on woodgas is my favorite to drive, currently I have had that truck to 82mph which would break the standing land speed record for a woodgas fueled truck. To get that official would be very very cool

*LMAO you pulled into a GAS station with a burning gasifier reactor running and lived to tell about it* xD xD... that's insane gas mileage though for a v10! The guy with the toyota figured 1.5mi per 1lb of wood; If the math is right that 20lb is ~1gal of gas he's getting 30mpg like you. Give or take. Damn! If I do what I am thinking a ford300 or 292 inline 6 will get slightly better PLUS I can add an HHO unit to top it off, I bet you could get 40mpg+ in your v10 if you stuck an HHO on that.
@BigBeavrSlayer
@BigBeavrSlayer 2 жыл бұрын
Ya I live a little dangerously I guess 🤣 if your hitting in excess of 2000° f in the hearth you are cracking the water content into hydrogen already. In the toyota I have cracked 300mpg several times I think 376 mpg was my best recorded milage so far. With timing tuning there is no reason the dodge won't get over 100mpg as long as I don't hybrid drive to much

If i do get confident enough to build one of these trucks I would never buy wood and neither should you. Look into something called Chip drop. They drop free wood chips at your house by the truck load.
@BigBeavrSlayer
@BigBeavrSlayer 2 ай бұрын
Yes BUT, chips are a lot more difficult to get to flow through the gassifier, they are to small as is and need to be sorted and sifted to appropriate size which adds considerable time to fuel processing There are a few guys who have specially designed gassifiers to run in chips but they are not as well known or well tested as the Wayne Keith design which in my opinion is by far the most universal of eat whatever you put in the hopper
