That's a lovely story. It doesn't surprise me that President Trump wrote a letter to King Charles on the death of his mother. He had such respect for her, and was furious that Markle and Harry treated her so badly! Additionally, Trump's mother went to the Queen's coronation. And, how special that the King responded in kind - sending him a touching letter after the assassination attempt.

Only took a couple of messages (in reply to theirs which used ''text speak'') stating that the message received was gobbledegook and could they please resend to prove that they did in fact listen to their English teachers in school and could spell and punctuate perfectly when needed (and I did pass that on to their teachers as well, they also passed on the compliments much to my daughter's embarrassment).

The Brits would expect nothing else of their King. Manners and politeness toward others are very important to and they will always follow that rule. By paying attention it should be noted that the rest of the Royals also write letters of thank you, sympathy, etc. to others, including their patronages and charities. Letters of any sort are a lost art here in the USA and that's rather sad. E-mails and text messages just aren't the same and I don't think have the same meaning. A person sitting down and taking the time to actually write a meaningful letter will frequently find the letter becomes a treasured family item. It will also become a part of the family's history.

When former President Trump was asked about his favorite memory when he was POTUS, he didn't hesitate. He said, "Meeting Queen Elizabeth. Hands down." I'm not at all surprised that he wrote to King Charles upon the death of HMQEll. Whatever you may think of him, he has a kind heart and he favors family over all. It's knowing that, that person made the effort and the time and sat down and wrote a personal letter to them, it's a wonderful heartwarming thing indeed. I am the same with cards, I'm happy obviously when someone sends me a card but knowing someone sat down and made the effort and the time to make a card makes it so much more special.
