I've bought 2 pre-built pcs(one from digital storm and one from ibuypower) and the thing I've noticed is they lean toward cheap or inferior parts like the ssd was some random horrible brand and went bad on both pcs...also the liquid cooler from ibuypower went bad and I had to pay to ship it back to them...after that I finally decided to build my own pc and have had zero problems

any pre-builts from 20'-22' were pretty unreliable due to the market/chip shortage/logistic constraints etc. So almost every pre-built were using the cheapest parts possible to save money on their end. I am sorry that this happened to you.

True, but not everyone is comfortable with doing it. There are good SI that can build systems for almost the same price as buying all the parts separately. It really comes down to what your time is worth? If you're not comfortable and/or don't have a few hours to do it, then a good SI is worth it.

You could always learn that stuff afterwards, no? I feel prebuilt is still a good option for people who are just in need of a pc and don’t want to spend time learning a new skillset beforehand. May not be perfect but it is significantly simpler and accessible. PC’s are not always as simple as watching a video tutorial and unexpected things can happen. Incompatible parts, inefficient parts, etc. some people don’t want to do all that research and just want a pc that you can work and play games on. I WISH I bought mine pre built to negate all the bs I had to do before I could actually sit and use it.

I don't want to sound like a jerk here, but just because tech channels accept money from companies to sponsor those videos, it doesn't mean that they're a reputable company. Tech channels with 5000+ subscribers will get random emails from companies paying them for sponsor spots on videos. That is good free money for these channels, and a large majority of tech channels don't necessarily have reputable sponsors. Look at toastybros recent videos with AliExpress sponsorship. Sure not all AliExpress products are scammy or garbage, but I wouldn't buy any expensive PC parts from them. Sure a keyboard or cheap headset would be okay, but not for main parts. Just my opinion. No offense meant to toastybros specifically, most tech KZbin channels have this issue.

Hey there! As a fellow DIY PC builder, I totally agree with your sentiment. Building your own PC not only helps you learn and save some money, but it also allows for future upgrades. The part about the warranty isn't true. There are two types of warranties: implied and express. All products are covered by warranties, whether or not a company explicitly states so. If a seller makes a promise about its goods, then it has already created an express warranty, making them liable if the goods do not conform to the consumer's expectations. Implied warranties are automatically applied to all products by law, regardless of a seller's promises of the goods. This is codified in Uniform Commercial Code Article 9. @deathsaidhello Жыл бұрын
depends on the type of prebuilt you bought. if the MB and Case can never change then you always have a prebuild. my initial build was assembled at a store, but i have since changed the MB and Case and added parts, so i do not consider it a prebuild. my hp prebuild is a R5 3600G 1050ti, i took out the 1050ti to use in a different build but i still consider the HP to be a prebuild since all the parts in it came in the box and it still works, although I optimized it to my preferences. the HP Case and MB were designed for each other so I wont be breaking it down, it will reach a limit to its upgradability much sooner compared to my other builds and that will be the end of its path, though even down that path i will consider it a prebuild because the MB and Case cant be swapped. heck, even the ssd that came with it is linked to the MB so ill just end up cleaning it out completely, fresh installing windows, buy a heat sink for it and just leave it in, its slow but gets the job done for what i use that build for.
@zeroturn7091 Жыл бұрын
When it no longer has a standard ATX layout, then again Legion T5 can take a motherboard and PSU swap. I guess it depends on the case having the same name as the company that sells it fully assembled.
