[YELLS IN GAY] IT'S DONE, LADS.
Yeaaaahhh it's not something video game related, but it is a little passion project I've had on the burner for a little while!
I'm just glad it's finished because not only was this so completely draining to put together, but I think it's the biggest hot mess I've ever made editing and audio-wise, but hey, you're your own worst critic or something.
I really put myself out of my depth here, but it was still refreshing to work on while I think up some more video ideas, so I hope you all really like this one~

This video’s a little outdated and from when I was less experienced in VOCALOID and other similar programs compared to now. This video still has some use when it comes to what VOCALOID is and to introduce you to the cultural side of the medium, but if you want a much more comprehensive tutorial on using the software to make your own works, I have a newer video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4TPlpesaJx8qLM

I'm a pianist and I don't know if it'll help but here's a hint that helped me: Practice rythms a whole lot with both hands. I't probably sounds really broad to just practice rythms so I'll narrow it down a bit. so what I often do is pick a low note with my left hand and the same note 1 or 2 octaves higher with my right hand depending on what sounds good. Then you just start playing that note in a rythm in your right hand at about 70-90bpm. Then you play the note in your left hand twice as slow as in your right hand, so you get 1 low note every two high notes. when you got the hang of that try doubling the tempo you go at. now your left hand is the bpm and your right hand plays 1/8 notes. Now try counting the beat so you actually know what ur doing like 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4,... Now you can experiment with breaks in your right hand. First stop playing only the last 1/8 note of your right hand about four times. then work your way back through the remaining 7 notes. Also, an important thing to do is even when you play a mistake KEEP COUNTING. That's the most important thing. When you are able to do that congratulations, you got further then I expected you to read through this mess and I'm glad you gave me a chance to help. But now try stop playing any two 1/8 notes of your right hand. and then three and so on. even when you only play two notes with your right hand just keep going cuz that'll give you more timing when you play. That's about all I'm gonna write here cuz this comment is already long enough as it is rn. Maybe you won't feel any difference but your fingers should be more controlable by now unconciously. anyways I loved this video. Now I understand a bit more about vocaloid.

Actually i think is his voice. When i'm bored and want to hear only the instrumentals i put The song in Project Diva Future Tone/Mega 39's practice mode and... I got really surprised when i heard a voice too human to be from Miku; i payed closer attention and realized that maybe it was Deco himself. The song was 39 and the same goes with all of Deco's songs... But it's specially heavy in 39. *Fun fact: Also in some of those instrumentales only moments i discovered Gumi as a background voice in some little parts of Torinoko City so... Gumi is not exactly in the game but at least we got that, take that Crypton! (ok i'll shut up...)

Vocaloid tuning is like developing an art style. Yeah, you have people who can draw amazing hyper realistic portraits, but you also have people who make incredible anime art, or surrealistic backgrounds, or hell even simple pencil sketches have their own charm depending on the project.

Here are some of my own tuning tips for beginners! -If a Vocaloid is having trouble hitting lower notes, chances are increasing the brightness will make it sound a lot less muffled. This can also lend some power to the voice. But be careful when using it as it can distort the voice. -PHONEME SWAP LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. Keep going until the pronunciation is perfect and don't just settle for default pronunciation. For example, if you swap the [ I ] phoneme to [ e ] on an English Vocaloid with a heavy Japanese accent, like Fukase, it makes the pronunciation a lot more natural sounding. Sweet Ann's [ V ] sounds better if changed to a [ Q ]. Don't be afraid to try really weird and unique phoneme combinations. Every Vocaloid has its tricks. -If you're using V2, V3 or V4, Fast Vibrato Type 3 is the best vibrato, no questions. -Just make sure to try new things and don't settle into one routine, so that you're always improving!

Yuyoyuppe and Utsu-P changed the game not only in Vocaloid but also in japanese metal in general and mainstream jpop industry. If it weren't for them, idol metal probably wouldn't exist today. Same with Hachi (a.k.a. Kenshi Yonezu) and wowaka (RIP) becoming some of the most important jrock artists of the contemporary era. Also, cosMo@Bousou-P was the first Vocalo-P I got hooked with and god, his music is so unique and beautiful.

Recommendations: Ghosts and Pals (English) - showed up in the video, dark alternative genre, Appetite of the People Pleaser and the Communications Series are the best. Creep-P (English) - creepy themed songs with an upbeat-creepy sound to them, most popular songs based on the internet horror series Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, such as Father and Eat. Jin/Shizen No Teki-P (Japanese) - His most popular series Kagerou Project was turned into an anime, manga and light novel series, definitely worth a listen especially Heat Haze Daze, which was the song that got me into Vocaloid. Neru/Oshiire-P (Japanese) - the master of alternative edge (if that’s a thing), mainly uses Rin and Len and has awesome music videos for most of his songs, World Domination How To and Jailbreak are some of his best in my opinion. Wowaka (Japanese) - sadly he passed away earlier this year, he will be missed greatly by all those who enjoy his music. His best and most popular including Rolling Girl and Unhappy Refrain. :D

Idk if anyone will see this comment, but vocaloid also has what are essentially musicals too! The earliest being The Story of Evil by Akuno-P, and most popular being Kagerou Project by Jin (which was adapted into an anime called Mekakucity Actors that cut most of the songs and had a rushed ending… rip). Some others that I know and love is Stellar Paradigm by Dasu and Parties are for Losers by Ferry. If your interested in a artists using vocaloid to tell their stories, these are all a great time! There aren’t too many that I know of though, it’s a lot harder to find this particular kind of story telling when it comes to vocaloid being so big. If anyone knows of some others, please let me know!

I'm from the old days of Vocaloid so I'm really into Mothy and HitoshizukuYama. Those good old intricate stories are just up my alley and I love it. Besides seeing the development of the 7 Sins series is a big thing for me.

This deserves so many more views! Your vid helps a lot. I've known of, and enjoyed a few vocaloid songs in the past, and I pretty much only know the basic info. I've been trying to get more into the fandom more, and this'll help a lot.

I've had an interest in wanting to give synthetic vocals a try for a long time, as I enjoy messing around with music but have nobody to sing for me. Making use of Vocaloid has always seemed like a really appealing option to me, but I've always been highly apprehensive towards the idea due to having no idea where to start or how to learn to use the software. I never knew that there existed so many resources online that were in the English language, so I highly appreciate being pointed in the right direction thanks to this video, and being given so many wonderful tips and resources to check out. It was very motivating to watch this, and I now have every intention of giving this stuff a try. I'm sure that I will struggle at first, but knowing that there are so many resources to rely on is a comforting realization. A huge thanks for making this wonderfully detailed video.

Dude, this is really interesting, I would recommend doing a channel talking of vocaloid stuff, because there isn't too much this type of videos and I know you can do a great job, like you did like this, Also it helps for us producers learn stuff and help the community have more info about vocaloid and the people doing the songs. Anyway, great job ;D

All the artists and songs he put in the listening to vocaloid are amazing and VERY valid, I’m just kind of shocked Wowaka isn’t on the list. I was 100% expecting him to be up there because his songs are some of the most iconic in the community. It’s nice to bring the other artists that spotlight though, VERY good lineup.

I had the same thought when I saw fragment of vocaloid concert for the first time: "oh look a fancy vocalist is hiding behind the scene, putting some autotune and advertise as virtual character" ...and year later I learnt that reality is even more crazier... About artist recommendations: don't forget about fantastic trance music producers: Aura Qualic, Blue Twinkle, Clean Tears and 鼻そうめん.
