I can't tell you how many ideas I've had just stop dead at "I don't like it". It's frustrating but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't guilty of it too.

It's human, unfortunately human, but part of all of us.

Geez, a bit hard on the monkeys of the world… pretty sure a lizard brain is more primitive than a monkey brain 🙉

Aha, but I am the elusive fifth brain! The designer-player, who seeks to play games just to steal their work for his own works!

Same here, but I don’t think it is a fifth type of brain, just a meta lizard brain trying to optimize our own system.

Chaos Brain moment: Ryuutama, quite possibly the best RPG ever made in my opinion, doesn't handle big epic fights well if at all and most of my game group are in it to kill gods.

This episode, I feel, focuses a lot on the players' approach to building towards combat, while in TTRPGs there are other things to do that are also rules-dependent and not just fluff, so I feel this episode could've had more depth. I'd also would've appreciated a more in-depth example on how you'd sate the philosopher-brained players for blood legacy, with some more in-depth descriptions. 9:25 ayo is that the Boss Battle theme from the hit game "Tales of Game's Studios Presents Chef Boyardee's Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa"?!

Combat is far, far, more immediate in most TTRPGs, with a lot of games focusing in on it or having it as a major facet. You can apply this to other aspects as well, with players trying direct approaches to things (I have a +2 to Charisma, let me roll), Squeeze Benefits (I have a the Science Man Perk, so I get a +2d6 to my next Science Person Check), or just "Roleplay it Out." I didn't quite know how best to explain Blood Legacy for the Philosopher, but the idea was that if you restrict available character types, they'll adopt one of them easier (thus feeling more inclined to take particular abilities in that field).

This can apply to any form of contest in a game really. A good example is charisma-maxxing in 5e and all the spells that let you bypass social situations and uncertain checks. The horny bard in DnD for example was always less of an unfunny meme and more of an attempt to monkey-brain "I use my plus ten billion DIPLOMACY to bypass this encounter/scene/anything the GM throws at you"

I don't like GURPS and it's impossible for my ttrpg friends to understand that I don't want to play in games using this system.
