If you like old school, you might like this, if you are a spoiled brat role gamer that needs a a dozen books to make your PC feel 'special' this book won't interest you. Likely doesn't matter either way. Unless you find the pdf with google and print it out yourself, you won't be getting it. The basic book is complete. The Bestiary is nice too. The hex crawl design elements are nice as well. Both books are about 280 pages but the hex crawl elements are in both books. So if you rebuild the 2 pdfs into one and edit out the bestiary from the basic book in favour of just using the more complete bestiary you get a very nice rebuilt pdf.

This game is like if you decided to make fear and hunger into a TTRPG but instead of having the complex themes of religion, cruelty and the nature of human existence it replaces it with obscenity crassness and is just lacks the nuance of fear and hunger

It isn't going away anytime soon. All four of the tutorial missions have been released to backers and will be available shortly and a full-length campaign book is in the works. There are also beginner guide videos right here on KZbin (which were not available when this video was released).

Some missing FFTRPG I can think of: Final Fantasy X D20 - Near as I can tell the original FFd20 game. It _somewhat_ weird in that it turned every FFX party member into their own class. There _is_ Blitzball, though. In fact every team gets its own prestige class (which are in fact the _only_ prestige classes unless you count the aeon ones, because of course every aeon from the game got turned into a prestige class). ZODIAC - Afaik the only FFRPG _without_ classes. You basically build your own class, with a tech creation system instead of fixed attacks/spells. Has some influences from Chrono Trigger and Tactics (the latter mostly by virtue of armor adding to your HP and MP, instead of providing damage reduction). Probably a bit messy (and has way too many derived attributes), but it actually emulates the ATB system, _and_ it is toolkit-y enough that you can use it for JRPGs other than Final Fantasy. The most recent 4th edition ditches the ATB system emulation in favor of doing a Bravely Default - complete with its class system, which is added _on top_ of the existing character customization. So now players essentially build at least _two_ classes (the actual character, and their starting class which the other PCs can of course swap to).

As someone who is indifferent on the "anime" aspect of the system, I like it as a tactically satisfying alternate to Mutants and Masterminds. Is it as flexible as the other anime and superhero systems when it comes to mechanically conceptualizing a massively wide variety of characters? No, but it's still very flexible, and the way the game is structured makes homebrew a breeze. After running quite a bit Mutants and Masterminds and Prowlers and Paragons, I've realized I actually like having a grid which makes things like Movement/Positioning matter rather than just slamming dice results. There's also no cancerous levels of CC which can straight up lock characters out of multiple turns (I'm looking at my recent experience PnP's MISERABLE SFX effects), even the strongest CC in that game still allows you to make some sort of interaction with the game under them. For a game that allows as wide of a creation system as it does, it's surprisingly fairly balanced. As for the questionable criticisms, such as the "overt focus on damage", I think you're really underselling the benefits of being able to knock someone into a wall a bunch of spaces away, knocking someone on their ass or just...ya know, have an attack with any amount of range? Another point about "generalist vs extremist builds", I have a player that went max Strength, near max Mind, and max Guts that is probably the hardest hitter and the hardest tank while having their Mind provide them an alternate damage type and plenty more range, no piercing special mods needed. The only way you can make a below par character stat wise is actively choosing not to focus on any stat whatsoever. As for what I'd consider outright baffling gripes, like the whole Muscle Defense thing: If you really looked at that and thought "Take a Damage Increment" meant you reduced that damage to 1 with your defense or resistance (essentially making the drawback COMPLETELY meaningless)...I'm gonna question your judgement. Two, the game definitely knows what direction it's going: a tactical shounen game that involves using special techniques and maneuvers to push your character over the top. It has never advertised itself as a "catch all" anime system. And three, uh, I'm pretty sure Session 0 is heavily recommended regardless of the game.

Seeing Enna in this video gave me a visceral reaction, and an expectation that she'd die in the ending gag. You disappoint me Notepad-Sama. As for the game itself, I don't really have all that much to say about it. It's not something I'd really play, though using a deck of cards and a chessboard is clever, so I'll give that.

I really like how the cards are used here. Being able to swap cards with your allies is clever and incentivizes teamwork, and I love mcahnics that let you expend a resource to save yourself. I'd like to make my own card based ttrpg but my options are either use normal playing cards which restrict the design, or make my own cards which is a lot of tedious work.

Princess Wing, a ttrpg about magical tech girls with cars and a lot of firepower and explosive power moves? hmm sounds like Notepad Anon actually picked up a touhou shooter games. If you think of it as caravan shooter with magical girls, the whole thing feels like a arcade shumup game complete with scores and intermission sequences.
