@@ethankearney8240 every car has its issues. I have 130k on my Gen. Its FBO and makes good power, I beat the shit out of it all the time and just do maintenance. The M6VR1 trans is kinda glitchy but that can be fixed with just a mount, better fluid and better shifter. The M6VR2 from mid 2013 and up is way better and when you do the mods said above it makes the trans shift like butter and can hold well over 600wtq with just a clutch upgrade. It's more about maintenance and how you drive the car which is the same for any platform.

I'm not trying to shit on the car, like I said I found it very attractive from power to price and I still do to a certain extent. I just wanted to get more info from other people. Working in a service dept I saw a 1.6 liter fiesta bust a giant hole in the oil pan by hitting something on a major highway and then driving 15 miles to my dealership and not blow up. We didnt even realize what the problem was until we got it into the air cuz on it's way there all the oil must've been shot out of it so it didnt leave a trail. I've seen the same car break down for way minor things. The community tho is where I wanted to do more research on various different experiences people have had with the vehicle.

As a 2014(BK2) 3.8 Ultimate (Track version) owner, I can definitely say that these are fun and great looking cars. Here's some tips if you're looking into one. The 3.8 is faster from factory sure, but the 2.0T is much easier and cheaper to make faster than the 3.8. The 3.8 can definitely make a good 20-40hp gains while staying N/A with full boltons and a proper tune, but to even get close to 400 wheel you'll have to boost it. However both engines can only handle 500bhp on stock block, so beware. Also, tuning companies are very rare, we're down to 2 since BTR stopped tuning gens. One is SFR in PA, and the other is Alphaspeed which does remote tuning. I currently have the Alphaspeed tune with a few boltons. Also, when you buy your genesis, I recommend buying any of the track models, not only do they come with Brembo brakes from factory, but they also come with an LSD. I know many people who buy the base model say they will get those later on, but very few actually do. Plus if you buy it from factory then your differential is under warranty. Overall I definitely recommend the car to anyone looking for one. Its fun, fast, I've gapped quite a few VQ's, and with the right exhaust the 3.8 sounds beautiful.

The Genesis is SUCH a fun car. I picked up a Flood Salvage 2013 Genesis 2 .OT with 26k miles 4 years ago.... I got it for $11,500 TT&L and have not had ONE single issue in that time frame (with the exception of scraping the front bumper and human error things since it was lowered when I bought it. I have daily driven it and am about to hit 92,000 miles. -Once again, not a single issue. At this point, "Venom" has paid for herself 20 times over so, I'm absolutely cool with getting into ECU flashes and upgraded inter coolers and all of that. If she finally breaks, well it was fun and I would honestly go find myself another one. I knew I was taking a risk on that F.S Title when I bought her so I made that purchase with the intention of keeping her until she doesn't run anymore. This is the ONE car I've owned that I tell people that without a doubt if my 2013 2.OT was totaled today, TOMORROW I would go out and pick up another one in a different color LOL. Not for everyone - That's okay! But personally, I love it. Everyday usable and a low barrier to entry in aftermarket modification excitement

I have a 2015 Genesis Coupe 3.8 with a 6 speed manual. Getting more power out of it isn’t necessarily difficult, but you have to pay to play. The car has 52k miles on it right now, and I have had no significant issues with the car. All the issues I’ve run across come from mods I’ve installed on it. It’s a fun car, and 350 hp is plenty for a daily driver. The only thing that bugs me about it is the front end. I much prefer the look of the earlier models front ends, but that comes down to a matter of personal preference. It’s a solid car, and I’ve enjoyed owning it since I bought it. I would recommend it to anyone in the market for a fun daily that has the potential to break some necks. If you don’t rice it out, these cars can look spectacular.

We have three BK2 V6 GCs. They are one of the most reliable cars we have had and we have had about 150 cars. They are fun, reliable, fuel efficient, and fairly quick. Also important is that parts are cheap and the car is easy to work on (except for the starter which is a nightmare to get to but has never failed fortunately). There are some things you can do to fix issues: 1. Shifters. ATQ kit really helps. 2. Clutch. The factory clutch is strong and reliable but has no feel. We use Spec Clutch and it makes the car a lot more responsive and fun. 3. More tire. The factory tires are too small. The cars understeer a lot so a square set up really improves initial turn in and mid corner understeer. 4. Cooling. If you drive hard a bigger radiator will help keep temps down. It is a far better built car than cars costing twice as much and is one of the best bargains today.

I have a 3.8 Ultimate. Threw a K&N air intake in it as well as a new exhaust kit and it sounds amazing (and pops when you down shift or let off the gas). But when he said there’s not much you can do to it to add power unless you boost it, he’s 100% right. There are a few mods you can purchase on genracer or a bunch of other websites that carry gencoupe products but none of them will add much power. Also, beware before buying this car. Parts are not cheap if it breaks down. I’ve had to replace the control arms, ball joints, you name it, and all of it has left a nice dent in my pocket. Otherwise it is a great car and in my eyes it’s pretty underrated!

Gotta remember around 2013 the 2.0t had a nice raise in HP. Maybe like 270? A $500 tune could get you to hit the mid 300 hp range without a problem. A nice option since the 3.8 seems to be more expensive

I've spent a lot of time autocrossing both the 350Z and the Genesis Coupe (R-spec) and in my opinion, from a driving perspective, the Genesis is more forgiving when it comes to a less experienced driver. The 350Z, while usually faster, is more on edge and will spin easier (I've looped out both cars.) If you're looking to get into a car to learn how to properly handle a RWD platform, I definitely recommend the Genny. If you've got some more years under your belt and want to squeak out a tiny bit faster lap time, I'd go for the Z.

I'm surprised that there was a whole video about the Gen Coupe with zero mention of the Tiburon. You never see the Tiburon mentioned anywhere, but I believe it's good for what it is. I have a base model 07 Tiburon (The best year model hands down) and it's got a 2.0L 4cylinder that pumps out about 128, but there is a V6 option out there. While it is FWD, it feels like you can still do a lot with it. I think of it as a "Low speed, high fun" car. Is it fast? Not really, considering it's got a 10.5s 0-60 (On the 07 base model). Is it fun? You bet your bottom dollar.
