My dad actually comes from the low rider scene and I grew up loving them. Literally one of the coolest cars to exist. He used to have technically a mini truck but that’s a whole scene stemming from the low rider scene. That’d be a cool episode to see too. But he actually had a nissan hardbody when they were new and his was decked out completely from a huge sound system to custom paint and wheels and interior and he said it was actually pretty quick for what it was with all that.

a lot of LA lowrider clubs were born in gang neighborhoods. Majestics, Imperials, Dukes all had heavy neighborhood relations and Ogs have been their presidents and founders. Growing up in the OC area, I've grown around seeing lots of lowriders and the culture. Never really got involved in it until my dad purchased a project van and my brother started to work on it. Now, not only do I go to tuner park & chills I also go to cruises with my brother and his friends. The community is welcoming, they may look intimidating but they are some of the most down to earth people. And yes, I'm a Chicano 🇲🇽

OG lowrider here. Bill Hines was the godfather of hydraulics back in the late 50s. Look him up. The lore of where lowriding came from is partly a myth. Lowriders were birthed from the traditional kustoms of the 50s and 60s. George Barris, Larry Watson, Bill Hines, Alan Duke. The quintessential lowrider style of paint in the 70s and 80s came from what these guys were doing in the 50s and 60s. You won't find any pictures or documentation showing that these guys weren't the first to do it.

Although im a mainly jdm guy, my dad was into lowriders when i was younger. Those cars got me into car culture as a teen and were the shit here (in the 2000's). Mans skipped the part to fully build a nice lowrider takes 12k... and a 58 impala is not the first to go all impalas are rust or your gonna pay more than a setup would cost just cause the name impala.. grab you a Lincoln towncar, Buick Regal, Monte Carlo, cutlass. Those are nice starters... also any real lowrider knows you have to reinforce the frame regardless if it’s x or not. Your frame will twist and bend of you dent take care of it

I built my first Lowrider been working on it for 3 going on 4 years I have a 87 el Camino, Indian silver metallic, I have a two pump set up for lay and play and 13 inch 72 cross lase spokes with the brand new whitewalls. Lowrider will save your life.

lowriding isn’t just driving a car it’s a way of life and how you carry yourself everyday. much more than just hydros or bags and some mural. and not slamming your car either, it’s a big ol boat that means something to you and loving her with all the problems she comes with. when i was going to mexico to car hunt i was looking for a japanese car because i was 17 and wanted a fun highschool car to throw sideways or hoon around in, but my pops is like “mijo, these cars are garbage, lemme show you something” and he showed me his friends in “amigos por siempre car club” in mexico and they all got low riders. and that’s what sparked me just doing something him and my grandfather used to drive. classic american boats that scrape. it meant a lot to build something with my pops because growing up i didn’t have a relationship with him so for us to build a car together was a good ass bonding experience and i forever will hold onto my car. i settled on a 1961 buick lesabre 2 dr hardtop. 364 nailhead and she runs beautiful. needs work, as all cars do. but you’re just never satisfied and everyone wants to outdo each other but never bring each other down. a great community of hermanos we are. so when you think about getting a car remember it’s not just a motor, 520’s and bags, it’s a way of living that so many people live by. i love y’all man. cheers

I would advise to just buy a stock car and make it into a lowrider yourself. You don’t want somebody else’s problems, better to make them yourself and understand them. Look for a rwd, body-on-frame and look to see if people have been able to fit reverse offset 13x7 wheels on them and you should be good.

Does anyone agree ? I'm a muscle car fanboy *I love muscle* but they do look the same tbh so it's harder to getting to know them and their engine units etc..

All muscle cars look the same? A 70 el Camino looks nothing like a 61 impala bubble top or a 69 camaro or a 70 hemi cuda. Cars back then were beautiful

@@ryankeener3432 ik cars were beautiful but getting to know every single muscle cars is kinda..... u know.. Tough. Like a plymouth superbird or a dodge Daytona look similar or even a chevy chevelle ss and an el camino looks have same front etc.. I love muscle and I love that getting to know every single one is hard lol. Even though they're under the same chassis... It's tough. And I love it being tough. No all muscle cars are popular you know. Including the European ones like maserati bora, merak mercedes..... C111 (I think it had a rotary engine but I guess not a classic).

Going to be doing a super untraditional lowrider build! V6 FWD... It's a 92' Oldsmoile Cutlass Supreme. Just turned a classic - so of course it's not been done yet! People gotta be pioneers in starting new trends, I will take a shot at this. Edit: Yes I actually have an idea how I am going to do this.
