Less than 15 seconds in and you lost all credibility when you mentioned "bartending class". Being a bartender is, "Sometime being the D.J. by pressing play and letting Spotify do its thing". That's not being a D.J. At 4:00 tips for bartending is significant in every city. There is nothing special about being a bartender in New York.

Wrong. Some of the biggest bars in the world started from people working in NYC. over 2,000 restaurants and bars in NYC and billions of dollars come in from NYC. I break almost six figures and the market I live in is nothing compared to the other cities like Los Angeles, Austin, Washington D.C or in New York. I know many bartenders in NYC and I go about 4 times a year just to go for the food and cocktail scene and there is nothing like working there.

Career bartender here, 13 years of days, nights, weekends, and weekdays and i thought your video covered the basics pretty well. Im very happy to see a video that covered the service industry circle of tips they give to you and you give back to them. As a long time bartender people always ask "whats bartending like? I always thought bartending would be such a fun job"...ect ect. I think the one thing that was missing from this video was the huge amount of legal liability and responsibility bartending entails. It is different in every state yes but i feel that is one thing most people dont think about at all when they think about becoming a bartender. Good video either way :)

This helped me a lot. I've been making my home bar and making cocktails for friends and family. Everybody (even my therapist) asked why I do not take a bartending job instead of my IT-ish desk job, because they see that I have the love for it. My only excuse was that then I have do deal with the tempo and customers. Your video helped me quite a lot and I might just take a bar tending gig because of it :)

I started as a barback in a tourist heavy bar this past summer. It’s that time of year where tourism slows down where I live and we are no where near as busy as in the summer. I finally got a shot at becoming a bartender and here we are. Few shifts in and I’m starting to feel more and more confident. Only 22 years old and I admit I really got to do my homework on booze. It’s nerve wracking to get orders of drinks you’ve never heard of and even not knowing every basic drink. Just hoping with time, I can become the most confident I can be in this position!

I am definitely feeling this. I discovered bartending as an accident and I fell in love with it. I used to work at a wine company. Cooper's Hawk to be exact and I worked behind the wine taste encounter. And I would have customers regularly meet with me. Because I knew how to mixed wine, which is not something that a lot of people do, but it made me realize that I wanted to do bartending. And I'm at a place right now. In Indiana called Chatham hills Country Club. And I'm definitely learning. It's tips included, but it's a private Country Club. So they start to at 20 an hour, just for that finance. Because people don't really have to tip. However, I'm trying to take everything. I learn from this place because. I want to eventually be in a high-rise hotel. And be a master bartender. It also helps that I've been a therapist for 7 years. And it makes it a lot easier to transition over to the bar. Dealing with people as easy And not easy for others, but I wanna definitely be the best of the best in this field. I love this video. I love that you talk about the people that you meet. Cause you for sure. Meet a lot of people I've met military people, politicians, Engineers, billionaires, the list goes on, CEOs you've been doing this longer than me. So you definitely have more experience, but just the people I've met in a year that have shaken my hand and have given me referrals and their business cards and communications with them. You definitely do get to connect with other people and you feel like your on stage performing, you feel like you're putting on a show. Even though it's backworking at the end of the day you feel like you just left a party in the serotonin is through the roof in your body.

I am a bar back/bartender at a small town bar in East Texas during the weekend. Weekends at this bar are insane. I just got my TABC two weeks ago and I’m pretty new to making drinks, but they get easier to make the more I make them. I feel like I mix well with the patrons but it is common to not get tipped at this bar, so we don’t split tips. If they did, they would only get about $150 for each night. The most I’ve got in one weekend was $160 because I do not get to serve as many people since my main job is being the bar back. It’s a tough crowd to serve but I absolutely love it.

Landed this job 4 months ago in one of the top hotels of the country where i live. Had about a week experience in the bar but thanks to one of the best bartenders or should i say the best people, i was able to learn it quick enough. Even though their methods differed, i still chose my own style which i still struggle with most of the time. Serving drinks, meeting new people while also making sure i wash my glasswork on time😅. Had to learn the role of cashier last week while doing bar at the same time. I dont know if I'm being childish or lazy but doing those two at the same time while making sure no guest waits too long for their drink and be certain that the bar is always clean, is super stressful. And even if it's a busy night, its standard for only a single bartender. But i'm proud for what ive done in the past few months and im sure that I'll get up to speed in no time. One of the most informative videos I've watched regarding the bar. Much love.

You totally hit the nail on the head whenever you mention just the shoe opportunity of being in a position like that. I was actually supposed to be a barista at a very unique café in Santa Monica California and I still regret it every day because I just feel like a coffee shop is definitely my vibe. I love coffee, but I think you can make pretty good money as well maybe even just as much as a bartenderat least out there you can not. You have so many Instagram influencers are coming through every day or business executives. Everybody loves coffee and I just couldn’t imagine the opportunity that would come being in that position if you were likable. I just got hired on as a bartender at a local Italian restaurant so I don’t think it’s going to be a lot of cocktails, but mostly pouring wine, however, I do want to get my foot in the door as a bartender. Even though I’m not a huge fan of super late nights, I feel like I’m floundering at 35 years old. I have a masters degree but I don’t really like my field of communications and I haven’t made much money. But I know I like people and I like being in sociable environments so I always felt drawn to either being a bartender, or something else that allows me to make decent money, but also provide experience

I work in a touristic frozen schnitzel for 17€ type bar in Strasbourg on the border with France and Germany and yesterday was fête de la musique. Just finished my 12 hour bartending shift yesterday. We all went out on the terrace to have an afterwork drink, then we heard some maniacal laughing from the street. This dude was carrying a keg of beer on his bike, he then proceeds to roll the barrel across the road and throws his bike too. Again the laughing continues and it sounds fuckin creepy. Then he just picks up his keg and bike and walks off laughing

7:26 our go to at our dive bar is to yell at the customers "No karate at the bar!" for that exact reason. Play fighting can become a real fight and we don't need that. Keep the karate at home, where you can break whatever you want and it's not my GD problem.

I've been bartending for almost a year now and I love it too, super tiring but like you mentioned, the pay is great. I would like to know your opinion on something related to socializing: When people offer to buy you a drink (even if it's non-alcoholic) how often do you accept? Drinking while working obviously feels like torture so I try to avoid it. My coworkers don't like it either. But such people, usually young who are alone, just want someone to drink and chat with, and its natural for them to approach the bartenders. I myself used to be a very shy girl so I totally get it. So I feel very rude saying no to them. Often I'll ask them to wait/come back later in the night when my shifts over, or give them my number. This usually ends with hook-ups, fun nights but its not the same as getting to know someone. Do you have any experience with this and how do you handle this? I would love to know your opinion ❤

Dunno if this is the right thing for me im taking training but its only 4 days and the drinks we making well...the recipes ain't easy to remember, i got 0 expeirence and when i imagine myself working at a bad im getting cold feet as to the amount of pressure such as remembering recipies and the drinks itself Im kinda doubting myself but maybe if i do gain a bit expeirence then my perspective might change Im only doing bartender since im curious about it and wondering if its something i can like but no matter how much i think about it i prefer computers or video editing
@nelsonlam96
@nelsonlam96 6 ай бұрын
Why not do both? If bartending is your curiosity, you can find a spot that lets you only work a day or two so it's not a big commitment. Plus, if you don't like it after a few weeks, then you can always quit. But I would say, once you get the hang of it, making drinks and talking to your regulars is really fun!

@nelsonlam96 10 ай бұрын
So when I was in school, we used flash cards and I still have them today. I don't use them anymore since I pretty much remember all of them. But if you're working at a bar, your most common drinks are basically vodka soda or gin tonics which the recipe is in the name. vodka + soda lol
