With hard work and dedication it’s very possible. If it’s what you want to do, go for it.

I would recommend you learn how to code mostly C++ and Python and get good mastery of them. Object oriented program is very important. I would also learn how to use Linux and ROS (robot operating system). Then from there you can start building your own stuff
