Most of these trucks were coded out around 20 years ago when replaced with S&S LMTV's. A lot of the A3's with the CAT engines and Allison transmissions were given to the Forestry Service and the rest went to Foreign Military Sales. The maintenance expenditure limit (MEL), on the multifuels was reduced to 0%, so how they were turned in is the way they were sold.

Are the 5 speeds a newer upgrade? I for some reason only remember 4 when I drove one in the 90s.

You probably never used 1st since it is like a granny low. I only use 1st if I am starting up a hill

@justamanandhisdeuceandahal5399 that makes sense since I remember starting on top, and the next 2 gears being on the bottom, next to each other. Still planning on getting a deuce now that I'm retired, but decent A1s or A2s are getting hard to find and I really don't want to spend the money on a refurbished one because they can get pricey.

Mine was causing a fuel delivery issue. After some research everyone bypassed it. Mine definitely woke up.
