If the knives on the plunger arnt set right the needles will push hay into the knoters and make it miss also that sweep arm needs a good swat to tighten it to the bill hook also if the bill hook is to tight on the twine she won’t let go

I enjoy your videos. I hope to be in the cattle business here soon. I wish you the best of luck in your business. I hope I can ask you for some advice in the future about my idea to get started in backgrounding.

I watched part on where you said this video was bad- I don't think this video is bad, its honest about the ups and downs of custom farming. Hope things are better this year for both of us!!!

Sometimes you have to ask yourself why someone else isn't doing their work. Then decide if it is worth the hassle sometimes the money isn't worth the hassle

I have the 2150 model, 30000 bales through it, great machine it still has 2 out the 4 original bill hooks, just basic maintenance. Now it looks like your balling corn stalks, I've done it in the past don't do it now. The problem is DIRT. It gets mixed up with your knotter oil and gums up your bill hook gears, I power wash my knotter several times during haying season, makes a world of difference.

I have been in your shoes with knotters. In my case it was just one knotter. We replaced about every part that could possibly have been the problem. I had the best knotter mechanic in three counties riding on the baler. No go. We bought a whole new knotter. It's worked fine ever since. Knotter guy said he's never been stumped like that before. Corn fodder is just tough. High wear balers and fodder don't go together well... Custom farming can be really bad and it can be really good. Hang in there, it all evens out in the end...

don't worry about day to day stuff just keep at it and i've mentioned this before the guy i hired to bale 3x3x8 WOULD ONLY COME if i had 6 rows raked together, that's damn hard to do with a little side rake on 1st cutting alfalfa and he had his wives do all the driving . when farmers see bales all over fields they'll ask around "who did that field"? work will come your way on it's own. in my county we're down to 1 custom bale guy now the other one i used to call just went through his 2nd divorce & the county has a lean on his property for never paying taxes. thing i wonder about is how do you get farmers to pay? ;/ your baler sounds like it's out of time and/or hay dog springs worn not holding hay back

Tell them I charge 24 percent interest per billing period. That gets their attention, but I have great luck with people paying me.

I had a similar thing happen a few years back, I was talking to a person I was working for and he mentioned how short he was of forestry harvesting machines at that time, so I mentioned that I was thinking of buying a machine myself ( I had been for a while ) he guaranteed me a years worth of work and this would of basically paid off my machine during that time ( machine was secondhand but I knew it well ) handshake on it. I bought the machine, all working fine and phoned the chap up and he just said he’d given it to another person, I was totally in shock because it had only been two weeks since we shook on it. Whatever, all I can say is never trust anything anyone says and get it in writing before you do anything. I ended up selling the machine for the same money as I bought it for but man it was worrying for a while. I feel your pain but you just gotta move on, good luck

Dang. That's a hard hit to lose a job like that on the one field. I got a laugh from your comment on having someone up top tying the knots. I've had a few days that it seems like that might be faster than fixing the knotters.

When you custom hay. You run into all kinds of aholes Will. Had a guy once wanted me to take my 80000 dollar cutter and cut his ditches. Told him I don't cut my own ditches with it. Obviously we don't cut for him anymore. Take care bud. It will be ok.

Ok I will help sharpen your knife arms and drop down your twin thickness nighty per percent is twine. Been in your shoes don't care what the dealer says lighten up your tension thinner twine up the pressure until you break twine then back off. Just my thoughts
