I think I prefer when you have the game prerecorded and then you review the replay. This way, you can watch your perspective (just like we do when you play it live), but then you can pause it at important points and discuss more deeply than when you are straining yourself trying to win at the same time. Still, I appreciate you putting in this work. I'm really enjoying watching all of the videos in this series. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

The Japanese are fantastic on River maps, set up Keeps and fortified walls with Yasama and unless you are facing a full army of rams or Bombard Cannons, you're set to build up your Samurai, Halbardier, Crossbows and trebuchets.

Do you think forging holds more weight in feudal for MaA due to them attacking faster thus applying the bonus damage more often? Or is it still not really that relevant

Japenese are funky. They lack the insane bonuses and a real anti-archer unit like Goths that could make them a powerhouse infantry civ, but nevertheless have powerful infantry in the cases it's needed, and a good archery compliment. The unique techs are something; Yasama is so good, two Japanese Keeps have better defensive potential than 5 generic Keeps or one generic Castle. Also, while not as game breaking as Goth Perfusion or Malay Trashanders, Kataparuto's increased pack/unpack speed makes Trebs feel so easy to use. The civ lacks a piece in the anti-archer department, but other than that is fairly well rounded.

Hey Hera, one thing you might consider doing is rather than finding a ladder game, you could actually find a recent tournament game that you played with the civ. If you can't find any, then it might suggest the civ kinda sucks (or was banned, in which case you can mention that).

Its bigger investment to add scouts since you already did them earlier. In addition japanese have a bonus for their m@a and it adds style points. You rarely get to make more than the initial m@a.

Curious to know who would win? A squad of jaguar warriors or a squad of samurais? Assuming unit numbers are fully upgraded and have the same numbers and no elevations included. I know the jaguar is an anti-infantry infantry unit and the samurai is good vs unique units.

@Emperor AlHasan Japanese are strong for sure, and pros often use them on that map. But this might be because they save the other civs for other maps, not because Japanese are actually the best. I am no pro either, so I asked the question.

I just played a game with japanese and found out, that you cannot write "japs" in the chat or the message will get *****. Made for a weird conversation cause i had some friendly strategy talk with my opponent after i lost and had to explain that i was not salty but that the devs seem to think that an abbreviation is racist.

Historical reason, dating back from WWII. The americans used "jap" as a derogatory abbreviation for the japanese during the war, and for a few years after. Nowadays, the newer generations don't know of it and naturally come up with the abbreviation every now and then without malice. The "jp" abbreviation is far more common nowadays, being shorter, used in japanese sites and not carrying the same historical baggage.

Still it seems very weird to me because I feel like most of the Playerbase is in Europe anyways as am I and we don't have any History with Racism against Japanese People and just want to use abbreviations for quick comunication while playing. Also for most of us English is only our second language which can make things even more difficult.
