Good to see a man discussing mysteries and Christie in particular.

For a character-driven mystery, I think "Five Little Pigs" is the strongest; for pace and action, I would say "The ABC Murders " is the best. "The Body in the Library " is probably the strongest Marple.

I read Agatha Christie's books at 11, and it's really good. Murderer on an orient express is really nicee and all stories are good BUT I really didn't like the third girl

Totally agree that the Miss Marple books’ quality are much better than that of the Poirot books

Ive grown up with agatha Christie and read 3 marples the murder at the vicarage , the moving finger and at burtrums hotel and i love her and the books. But my favourite marple book out of the 3 i read and marple adaptation is still the moving finger its so good and being raised on the tv shows i am loving seeing what they kept and what they changed when reading.

My first was Morder on the orient express and I’ve read over 50 of her novels by now. I’m a huge fan and especially enjoy the Poirot stories.

Great video. Thank you for the suggestions. And Then There Were None is indeed her masterpiece, I think. But I still have much to read. Roger Ackroyd’s twist genuinely blew my mind - so simple and “obvious”, but so genius. And I actually think Orient Express, although spoiled now through its many adaptations (1974 being the best, IMO), is perhaps the most innovative, subversive, and unpredictable (even poignant) solution to a murder mystery ever formulated. Curtain is also amazing that way. But I have yet to really dive into Miss Marple’s stories…looking forward to it!

Thank you so much for creating this reading guide for Agatha Christie's works! As a big fan of her writing, I appreciate the effort you put into compiling this comprehensive list.I can't wait to dive into more of her books and see how the plots unfold. Keep up the fantastic work! 🥰🌹

For the standalones, I would add Death comes as the end (the one set in Ancient Egypt) and Pale Horse. I think the best MM is A murder is announced. It's also considered as one of the best AC books. Caribbean is nice but she didn't take advantage of the setting; that story could take place anywhere. As for the Poirot stories, I would go for ABC murders, Peril at End House and Five Little Pigs.

I've only read a little bit of Miss Marple up to now (Thirteen Problems, The Murder at the Vicarage, The Body in the Library) and I liked them. Mystery isn't my go-to genre but I plan to pick up more of her novels in the future, just having the eternal problem of "too many books and too little time" 😂

A long time ago I read the ones I could find at my library. I tried to read them in chronological order. It was interesting to see the language in the dialogue change over the years. I’m definitely team Marple and I enjoy Christie’s stand alone spy novel.
