Wish I could’ve been alive when the Beatles were captivating the world. I’m 15 and today’s music is all the same, often violent, crude, or just plain bad. These four wonderful men defined music for much of the 20th century, and I wish I could’ve seen them play live.

There is an abundance of musicians that are inspired by the Beatles today. I used to be that guy who only listened to "real music" and thought modern music was crap. Than I figured out how much music you deprive yourself of with that way of thinking.

+Grace Earvolino well he doesn't make music the way you think music is made today. Bruno writes catchy hits like it's nothing. But he will never top the Beatles. No one will.

***** Whatt!!!! they can all play their instruments, well. Along with the bass guitarist, the second singer are the cute ones, the drummer looks rock and roll and the lead singers oozes charisma. All this is wrapped up in a 60s retro look. Mark my words this band will break America then get weird and get even better in time. And who knows with that pool of talent perhaps we may even see some successful solo careers. OK maybe that is stretching it a bit. But who knows.

I grew up in the hood (ghetto, then) and believe it or not, but we LOVED the Beatles. They were a true sensation. My school (4th Grade) even had Beatle Burgers on day for lunch: burgers with sauerkraut (for the hair). I threw it up - it was gross - but still. That Halloween, all us kids wanted to be Beatles; they had wigs with the costumes you got at the drug store and everything. It was very exciting what with Motown emerging and all. Very exciting. And I recall too that all of the television shows got in on the bandwagon as well. You may remember the Gilligan's Island episode where the girls became the Lady Bugs, for example. It's funny to think we only knew them here in the U.S for such a short time - '64-'69 and to think of their influence and the hit after hit after hit after hit - they popularized the LP as well. Just great!

+Helmut McFranklinstein I was born in the 60s, so I don't remember them. But teenagers today, on average, are more likely to graduate high school, less likely to kill somebody, less likely to be killed, and have fewer fatal drug overdoses than teenagers in the 60, 70s, or 80s. Growing up in the 60s would have been amazing, but today's teens are better behaved. Teen pregnancy is down, too.
@SailorBarsoom
@SailorBarsoom 8 жыл бұрын
***** That's because the media follows the rule of "if it bleeds, it leads," and there's a lot more media than there used to be. Let's put it this way: if I had a time machine, I would certainly want to *visit* the 1960s, but I wouldn't want to *live* there. Heck, I was already a year old when _Loving v Virginia_ came down.
@jaydenmclean8786
@jaydenmclean8786 8 жыл бұрын
+Sailor Barsoom that is true but, I think it is because of all the technology around these days and more sexual protection around also, more may graduate mainly because, it's harder to get a job now than it was in say, the 60s. The crime rate was also lower than now through most the 60s than it is now, it was never until the late 60s. And, the crime rate started dropping dramatically after the internet was opened to the general public.
@SailorBarsoom
@SailorBarsoom 8 жыл бұрын
Jayden Mclean Yeah, I give the Internet a lot of credit for the lower teen pregnancy rate and even the lower fatal overdose rate, because teens are able to access the information we adults keep trying to keep away from them.

I am 63, as I recall , "I Want to Hold Your Hand" was the first American release on Capitol records. It was huge to say the least. I knew when I heard it something different had arrived, although I was only 12 at the time, this song spoke to me, it sounded very strange at the time. We have been hearing it now for some 51 years so we have gotten very used to the sound. Back then? New and different, something was about to change.

For me this is the quintessential Beatles single. I remember when it came out.....any ten year old could relate to the words......we played it again and again and again....in my memory it was the first single when the band were already known all over the world and super famous.....must've gone straight to number one in the charts. Words cannot express how much we loved them. "She Loves You" ( with the YEAH YEAH YEAH ! ) made the Beatles famous but with this track they did it all over again.

The Beatles is the only band I can think of that you can see gradually get better. They started as a average pop group, but in-between 1965-1966 they transformed. They morphed into one of the most legendary bands in the world. I'm not trying to dis this song, although I hate this song, I'm just saying to all those "fans" saying their 12 and listen to the Beatles, listen to Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magical Mystery Tour, the White album, and Abbey Road, and you'll probably agree that THIS isn't the Beatles.

The greatest sound in music history . There 3rd album A hard days night in 1964 was the first in pop history where all the songs were written by the original artists . It is one of there best with incredible songs written by them at the tender age between 21 and 23 . They were 40 years ahead of their period . Breathtaking talent with incredible personalities . This is why 44 years after their breaking up we are all talking about them and are still the worlds no 1 group

I think it's hard as an adult now in 2014 to look back on a specific song and compare it to a whole body of someone's work. It's important to remember the environment that the Beatles were composing and writing in. England was largely isolated from the rest of the world musically speaking in 1962. Commercial radio did not exist. I think that a more accurate statement is that you can see the Beatles grow as musicians and song writers through to 1970. And they would agree with you. Musically speaking, they were innovators as far back as 1962. Their chord structures and melodies had never been done before. I think that the more you study music the more you can appreciate the complexities of songs like "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "Not a Second Time" and even "Please, Please Me" One doesn't have to be a musician or even understand how music works to appreciate the Beatles. However, the greater understanding one has the greater appreciation that person will have for the early stuff. To the non musicians I would suggest spending the next 5 years listening to nothing that was recorded after 1961. Then put the Please, Please Me album on. Then you'll get what all the hype was about!

Who are the 391 people who :Disliked" this? A Classic. Sweet, catchy, and very reflective of the innocence of the time; before Vietnam, Kent State, LSD & Nixon. Just a beautiful song. Hard to believe their look was considered "radical". Amazing. Thanks for sharing.

***** That's actually the music i listen to, however i still think a true musician doesn't use auto tune like one direction. people that do that don't deserve to be as famous as they become.

Imagine dragons and Of Monsters And Men are probably the best bands today, as well as RHCP if u want more rock. Beatles were still better though, more variety and an insane amount of good songs.

Es increíble que estas cuatro personas lograrán todo lo que hoy en día con 4 principales instrumentos simples, una batería, dos guitarras y un bajo. Un gran ejemplo de humildad de su parte.

I'm thirteen, and I hate the music my generation has. I wish music of the current generation sounded like this. People at school are like, "Listen to Justin Bieber! Listen to Nicki Minaj! Or Ariana Grande." and I'm like, "No. Beatles is where it's at. End of story." Some current music is okay, but I would give anything to live in the generations when music was actually GOOD. I think the problem with today's music is autotune. Most of them can't sing, so they autotune it. Nowadays, anyone can be a singer because if you suck, they computerize it. But back in The Beatles era, there was no autotune, so they actually had to find people with really great musical talent. So music stayed good because the singers' voices were REAL. I can hardly stand my generation and it's only getting worse.
