I really appreciate that Fay asks the questions that we want the answers to. I also appreciate that Kirsty explains everything so clearly. Question; has Fay given up her really long, fancy nails now? She's not been the same since she went skiing!!

Absolutely NOT lol she’ll have em back long in the next video guarantee that’s why she had the length taken down

I have full cover tips on my non-dominant hand and have been doing the fills with Strenthify. Since doing this method I do not have to file off the lifted free edge on the underside. I love how Kirsty explains the science behind the method. I am a person that needs the "why" to help me understand.

I am a person that needs the "why" to help me understand. That is sooo much like me. I drove my mother nuts (and she did me). She believed I should just do what I was told. I would do what made sense to me instead.

At the beginning I was filing off but then I’ve realised I’m damaging the natural nails as I just couldn’t see whether I was heating the natural nail or product, so I’ve decided that it would be best to do soak off to be safe. I still do file off on my own nails but not on clients!! And I have to say that for a whole year my natural nails were thin as paper due to me not knowing what I’m doing… obviously that was not being thought in college so I had to learn the hard way 😅 . Thank you for this video it’s really good to be able to see side by side the results of both techniques xx ❤❤

I was in a general household appliances store the other day and i was served by a lovely young man with the most beautiful ruby red sporty length nails. I loved that. A very, very long time (a lifetime to be honest) i used to work in a different branch of that same chain of stores and i used to wear the most ridiculous press on’s. They sometimes flew through the shop when I had to open heavy boxes or stacking shelves…. Sadly I haven’t worn nails since. Now i just have chewed of brittle natural stubs.

I loved your little debate about how long natural nails should or could be in school. I was always lucky, and had super strong natural nails, I could hammer nails in wood with. They were always almond shape,and longer than your set in this video. I had long nails in Primary school too. I used to do all sports, gymnastics, cross country and a hell of a lot more. I was told once by the Hitler deputy head mistress to cut my nails, and take my earrings out, as we were only aloud one set. She had bright red false nails, and more jewellery than MrT 🤷🏼♀️ so l told her I would, when she stuck to the same guidelines 🙄 School’s should worry about what they teach children, and not care about what they look like. Always love your videos, I’ve been watching since before that company that shalt be named 🤐 I’m glad you kept your logo 👌🏻 ❤ xxx

I file off hard gel. This was a great video. Love when Fay is on. Thank you for sharing this.

I only do hard gel on myself so it's file off for me but I have a theory about soaking off. I've noticed that the nail bed comes off easier than the free edge and I've wondered if it is bc the free edge doesn't get much body heat coming off of the finger compared to the nail bed? I've wondered about the curve of the natural nail thing, too! It makes so much sense but this is the info you get from experience that's so valuable!
@thatotherchannel79452 жыл бұрын
Good theory! The heat makes the acetone more effective so it makes sense

I prefer file off because I usually leave a layer on my nails before I add the next set. Generally, I cut my nails down and remove the product 3-4 times a year. The rest of the time I do fills. I am just nail enthusiast and only do my own.

@pam58782 жыл бұрын
I love to see you with clients, we would be besties lol I like filling if it’s polygel and soaking if it’s acrylic or dip powder. I saw a trick, use a baggie, add coconut oil and acetone then make sure you have heat (I use a rice neck warmer under a bowl with the hand in it) comes off in less than 10 minutes 💚💚💚🎃🎃🎃🎃👻👻👻👻

I use an e-file till i feel that i am somewhat close to my natural nail, but without scratching it, and soak the rest off. My natural nails look still very good underneath.

Hey kirsty, I've got a question related to nails peeling. My natural nails don't grow very long.. When they grow a little, the start chipping and breaking and the layers start peeling off. What can I do to rectify that? My hand and nails are never dry so I don't know what the problem could be
@amaltea742 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem but i started to use a glass nailfile and file the nails in the same direction...and they are perfect now!!! 😻
@JP-rx2zu2 жыл бұрын
As much as I absolutely detest soaking off, I like to try and keep my natural nails untouched as much as possible, in terms of disturbing the upper layers. I like growing my natural nails out from time-to-time, and they just get way too thin if I file the top even as gently and carefully as I can only twice per month. I think my nails just run on the thin side naturally, and are prone to peeling off. So when I do a soak and scrape off the product, I take as much time as necessary, and always scrape downwards toward the free edge so my nails don’t peel backwards. And I hate every moment of it. 😂
@kasie680 Жыл бұрын
Hey Kirsty! Can you add a tip onto a nail that has a thin bit of acrylic left? Or should you file the old product completely off??

Horrible experience with overly vigorous filing. My beloved salon/spa was sold, closed, and I had to find a new nail tech. She over-filed to the point where my natural nail had red spots which stung like crazy during gel curing. Never again! It’s soak off for me.
@aimeefoucault5342 жыл бұрын
I prefer to soak off, only because during that time I get my polishes together and maybe set up glam designs with the "client". Also just because I am still new at it so it helps with timing. But on myself I file off.

I cannot stand the look of natural nail under extensions. I agree with Kirsty on this one - it looks dirty to me, even if the nail isn't actually dirty. My nails drive me crazy because like Faye, I have longer hyponichiums due to wearing extensions so much. So I'm in a constant battle with seeing my natural nail under my extensions and not wanting to lol. And I do file offs. As I only wear hard gel it's my only option. I always leave a layer of clear gel on my natural nail though so I'm not wearing out my natural nail surface, which is naturally thin and weak already.
