All of these supposed 30-40 lakhs traders that you are talking about were not really that many traders they were just gamblers and were losing money. They were looking at these derivatives as a way of quick money making. They were not real traders at all because they were not doing much serious analysis of any kind and as real traders, they did not have any sort of discipline or anything. I can agree on regulations about forex but the rules about expiry and lot sizes are good and better for people in the long run as you mentioned addiction which is not a good thing stock market as a whole should considered as a business and not a gambling addiction. Bohot accha hua abhi indian market purane dino jaisa ho gaya hain. Positional option selling main acha paisa ban raha hain bada capital se. Bolna aasan hain lekin forex main jisne bhi indian market main 3-4 saal de diya hain uske liye forex main completely shift hona utna easy nahi hain coz it is a different market. Aur uske alawa agar aap option seller ho toh jo strategies aap options main use kar sakte ho premium ke basis par woh aap forex main nahi use kar sakte. Lekin forex is best for trend followers specially.

I agree on the point that banknifty should have been kept for weekly expiry along with Nifty. But I must say market manipulations have become way more common these days after the introduction of daily expiries. Instead they could have kept mostly traded indices for weekly expiry on a single day; without introducing unnecessary indices with weekly expiries on different days. Indices are being managed meticulously to keep them sideways on the expiry days & markets have lost their momentum. Other indices like Midcap & all should have a single monthly expiry.
