I have learned an incredible amount in my 3 years of soaping from your organized, clearly presented, and quite informative videos!! Just came across this one recently and finally made the un-petroleum jelly this a.m. I am deeply grateful for your generosity with information and for the time you spend teaching. Thank you! This came out fantastic and at a fraction of the cost of the wonderful little tubes I've been buying for decades! I made it plain--no infusion--to use with combinations of essential oils for various needs. So much potential! And so easy! Wish I'd thought of it. 😊 I look forward to making infusions for it as well!!

So many people watch your videos (and they are all wonderful) and it is so important to get people to stop using products that are harmful to their bodies, thank you for putting out this recipe for people to know they can make great products at home and not use horrible chemicals. Good job! Adding a few extra herbs like plantain, etc. omitting the castor oil, they can make their own homemade healing salve like the Neosporin, again with out petroleum. If anyone wants the recipe, I would be happy to put it out there for them.

Thanks for the video. I did have a general soap making question. Im just now starting to get into cp soap making and would really like to develope my own blend using different concentrations of different oils. I know through you about using the internet to help, but my question is: "Do colorants and/or scents change the soap (other than speeding/slowing trace or changing the color)?" Basically if I find my "perfect" recipe, am I going to have to change it all the time because of my scents and color additives? Thank you so much I am glad I am subscribed!

I love the feel of this on my skin! Not too greasy and seems to absorb into my skin. However, I'm not sure what the temperature of the jelly was for the final picture, as I've found this will not make a jelly that will stand up on a spoon when it is at room temperature of 72-74 degrees Fahrenheit. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Hello, thanks for the recipe the consistency looks good. How do I convert the recipe from percentage to tablespoons or ounces ?
@Diana21Dee7 жыл бұрын
Jeanette Sargent I don't think you can, generally her recipies are based on weight because they are very specific and tbs. or tb. can be inaccurate due user error. So you can say you will make (lets say 1/2 lb or ~250g) and then measure out your ingredients in percentages of your goal weight.
@JamieLOVEUMOREJOURNALS7 жыл бұрын
Jeanette Sargent, get onto wholesale supplies plus. They have a free batch calculator that will help you convert it to the size you want to make. Using percent like this allows you to make a mini batch or a huge batch. If you are hoping to fill a 4 oz jar you can put that in and it will give you the oz to use
@Diana21Dee7 жыл бұрын
Jamie- LOVE U MORE SOAPS doesn't oz on a soap calculator generally mean weight regardless though?
@JamieLOVEUMOREJOURNALS7 жыл бұрын
Diana21Dee, you can go into the batch calculator and figure out the size you are wanting to make in ounces. Then your going to have to go back through and figure it out in the measurements you are wanting. For example, 1 fluid ounce equals 2 Tablespoons. 1 fluid ounce also is equal to 30 ml. 3 teaspoons is equal to 1 Tablespoon, and 1 teaspoon is 5 ml. So depending on which measurement you are wanting to make your batch in, you will have to go through and re-figure it. I hope that helps. If you need more help you can contact me through my KZbin channel or email love-u-more@comcast.net. I'm not in any way trying to take anything away from the soaping 101 channel, I was just trying to help explain how you can figure out the measurements. I love the soaping 101 channel, she may even have a video giving info on changing these recipes if you can't do it in weight.
@JamieLOVEUMOREJOURNALS7 жыл бұрын
Because this isn't soap, it can be changed and the measurements won't need to be as accurate, however if you were making cold process soap (using lye) I wouldn't recommend changing it into teaspoons or a measurement not being weighed out. Then it's super important to be exact.

Kerry it would be 33% of your total amount so yes if you are only gonna make a cup 33% would be 1/3cup. But you would have to make sure all the amounts add up to your total desired amount of product if that makes sense.

Soapers work in percentages bcz we change the size of batches often. Also, we use the metric system for accuracy. If you're planning to really work on your craft you should consider doing so to prevent miscalculating

an easy salve ratio to remember from Mountain Rose Herbs is 8 ounces oils (infused or not) to 1 oz (or approximately 2Tbsp. beeswax, weigh before grating or use pastilles. This makes it easy to scoop without digging your nails in and easy to rub in. This makes enough for a half pint canning jar plus a small lip balm or cream jar for your purse. It's also creamier if you stir while cooling your mixture, but it isn't necessary. In the video it looks like she used less beeswax, but with the amount of castor oil used it would naturally be thicker to begin with. I personally like more dandelion oil because my skin loves it :-) HTH
