Look, I'm not trying to look smart. I'm not an engineer (just a space enthusiast) and have never pretended to be. I've seen your channel and actually do appreciate the work you do. I'm just asking a question. I simply want to know why the astronauts in the video are portrayed without pressure suits, because all modern astronauts (in the wake of the Soyuz 11 event in 1971) launch and re-enter in pressure suits. This is not a speculative video as you imply. This is a semi-accurate video intending to portray the launch, landing, and re-entry of the suborbital blue origin spacecraft. It is not "some day". The company has a specific timeframe for space tourism. The events pre-launch, launch and landing are described at www.blueorigin.com/astronaut-experience. You claim that this is what space travel will look like when it is as commonplace as "driving to the corner convenience store to get some beer or soda" but this misses the point of the video. This is a launch-to-landing rendering of what a flight of their New Shepard rocket will look like. This isn't some future speculative system, like that seen in the Boeing "You Just Wait" ad.

I wonder how much this ride will cost. Pretty sure it would have to be at least in the hundred thousand dollar range to be profitable, as the fuel costs alone are probably up there, not to mention refurbishment of the rocket and capsule. And it will take a long time for tourism profits to pay back the development costs which must have been in the tens of millions at the very least (but probably in the hundreds of millions I think). So, at least several hundred tourists will have to sign up to even come close to making this profitable, if not several thousand. Though to be fair, the R&D that went into this project will probably be applicable to Blue Origin's future orbital rockets and spacecraft, so there's that. This could be looked at more as a proof of concept than a tourist venture. The tourism thing is just a side benefit.

It does, but it's inefficient to do hover landings rather than a suicide burn like SpaceX. I'm concerned about the capsule though. THUD

Nathanael Vetters Why inefficient? I mean I think it's better than spending millions more to make another rocket booster.

I said hover landing _as opposed to suicide burn._ Yes, I am very much in favor of reusable rockets rather than expendable ones. But SpaceX's method of landing is much more _fuel_ efficient than Blue Origin's.

if they will make it an hour then the new shepard will look completely different and it will reentry and not survive since the rocket will go higher and when going down it will pick up speed enough for reentry and the capsule is not designed for reentry
