This is great, but I just got a soap container at Walmart and a bunch of tiny plastic bags and I went in my medicine cabinet and put a few doses of everything in it. Works well, didn't cost much and is easy to refill.

That is exactly what i do, but with a small food storage container. The only downsides are that I have no idea when any of it expires, I get the gas pills and the antidiarrhea mixed up, and the medicines get messed up/dirty easier. The upshot is that I can personalize it for my family, its inexpensive, and its more compact.

Glenn J, yes, I write the name of the drug, dosage and expiration date on each bag, plus the date I most recently replenished the kit on the container. Additionally there are pill identifier apps (such as Medscape’s) that allow a pill to be identified by it’s color, shape and markings. I have never had problems with customs. One time airport security was confused by my tourniquet, but then one of them saw my star of life patch and exclaimed “Oh! He’s an ‘EMS officer’!” and let me pass 😂

Remember: You can use Diphenhydramine for motion sickness/vomiting as well - so if you‘re not that helo-happy, it can really help you 😉 It also helps with sea sickness pretty well. Make sure - as Sam said - to know how it works for you and how tired it makes you. That can range from no effect to „I need to go to bed now!“ 🥴

I was trained as a cna and went to work in a nursing home when I was in my 20s. Back then they told us that because we had a cpr license, people could sue us. If we didn't have the license, their case would be harder to prove if we did something wrong. The idea was that someone who was trained should always do it right, someone who doesn't have a license but wants to help is expected to sometimes do it wrong, and thats ok. The specific example(s) they used was a guy who choked in a restaurant and an unlicensed person who had no idea how to the heimlich cracked a rib. No one on the jury wanted to award the guy anything because the person who helped was untrained and just wanted to save the guy's life. On the other hand, there was a lady who had a bone in her spine cracked by a paramedic who did chest compressions while her head was still tilted back. She did win her case.

Great vid! I think one thing to note is not wanting to store these in a vehicle for a long time, or if you do, make sure you watch the temp! Idk about you but here in SoCal we keep thermometers in the med compartments of our rigs. Other than that, great introduction to the product. I bought a couple medmags for my range bag and they’re great!

I have a request for a video for you firefighter colleagues. It not always that we have EMS with us when doing certain calls, but all of a sudden need some help/aid, but what could be a great load out that can fit in some of the pockets of the turnout gear, but also stand the occasional heat of external extinguishing. Kind of different to your role, but still in the same ball park😀🚒🚑

Bro. Can you do videos about tactical paramedics??? Like ATF, FBI or DEA paramedics. They must have meds in the entry tactical team. It would be cool to know more about them, what they do, how they train. Thanks, take care.
@gagehassan8885
@gagehassan8885 4 жыл бұрын
I'd assume they operate and function similarly to rcmp tac medics where they are actually leo first and then with time served they become a team medic(after applying and going through separate and selective application process) within their bureau and get the same licensing and base hospital certs as civilian medics do within their respective states(apologies if I'm wrong on this). In all honesty though they receive the same training as med techs(combat medics I'm canadian) just different scenario based events(although quite similar). So think core phtls and any recommended/required tccc course.

You know I was literally looking at these last week and was wondering about them. Thanks for the review and I totally agree that the basic medications are just as important as the rest of the stuff. Being married to an RN we are never in a shortage of OTC meds haha. I will likely be getting at least one of these.

Each state has its own requirements for each category. I’d do research on my state and run with that. In California there are EMT-B offerings in community colleges, private colleges and some adult schools. PM schools can range from universities(UCLA), community colleges, and private. Don’t be afraid to call an agency in your area to find out. Who knows, you might just find a mentor that way. Best of luck!

I’ve just come across this video, and my question is an honest one, not a sarcastic one, but is there a reason why a med kit would opt for popsicle sticks over an actual finger splint? The sticks need tape of some sort, which was not included in the kit, while you can get a finger splint with Velcro on it. Just wondered what the reasoning may have been, I’m not a very tactical person, so it had me scratching my head a minute.

Finding single use meds like these are for some reason tough to come by in Canada. Even travel sized ones are too big to fill out a comfort kit without opening the packages and breaking them down. The pill refills they have on their site are very reasonably priced. As are the Mag kits. Just wonder if the shipping outside the US will be $$$. :) Oh and long term storing the meds in a vehicle in summer heat could be problematic.

I sell small first aid kits online and I always put bandaids and OTC pain and allergy medicine with the other stuff because that's what used most. I know everything there is OTC but how does it jive with state protocols for meds. As an EMT, I can give aspirin for chest pain but its only been since last year that I'm allowed to give a couple of OTC pain relievers. I'm still not allowed to administer diphenhydramine. Its always been silly to me but my certification really limits what I can "legally" break out of one of these kits and hand to someone. Just between us, and all of youtube, I'd do it anyway, I'm just curious what the consensus out there is on giving meds you're not technically supposed to be giving.
@freeoutdoors
@freeoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
They wrote the applications for each of the meds on the box/pack. If you hand someone the box and tell them to look through it, you have technically not administered anything.
