I am definitely getting a dream flight for precisely this, small slopes. Nice!

Good to see you're still enjoying your flying Paul. This reminds me of when I flew my Mulitiplex Fox from a 10 foot cliff off the side of Dunbar golf course. My old vintage Sunduster would float along well on your slope. I occasionally soar the coastal cliffs and Pentlands up here nowadays but mainly power flying and rc yachts. All the best..👍

This wasn't a millions miles away from your old stomping ground David! Still getting out whenever I can.... been a bit too busy with work recently though. Hope all is good up north!

Took me a while to warm to flying foam. Now I have about 10. Including both Evo and trek Alula!

Nice one Paul. Is that a Weasel?

It's lighter brother an Alula.... just the tool for the job Trev!

the height of the slope is about 2 meters? And if the wind is stronger, then something heavier, like a Weasel weighing 250 grams, will fly on such a slope?
@miniphase2 жыл бұрын
Hi unixoid, a Weasel would have flown fine here on this day. So long as you are flying with a large, clear area of water in front, then 2 metres is fine, just make sure you fly right on the edge of the slope as the lift band will be very small.

Very nice

@Gary Scroggs Thank you Gary, I love trying out these little sites.... there are slopes everywhere if you have a right model!

@@miniphase yes I've been slope soaring the miles of sea wall here in darkest flattest Essex for years now with a few scratch built models but I've got a Weasel that takes the knocks well as the rotor behind the wall is very unforgiving. I've found that there is a sweet spot for wind speed on the walls, too strong and it appears to blow the lift out. It's been years since I've flown on a big hill.

It`s a Dream Flight Alula Trek right. Flies well on a breath of fresh air

Absolutely.... only 4 or 5mph here!

I'm guessing that Chris Williams will not be bothering you there...

That made me chuckle! I'd be curious to know what the biggest model is that could be flown on a slope like this. Maybe a large old school r/e floater would cruise back and forth without an issue.... hold my beer!

@@miniphase Tiny slope - tiny lift band. Part of the endless fun of slope flying is seeing what will and what will almost fly. My guess is that the tight turns of the Alula is the true magic here. The big turns of a 3m floater would be a real challenge as it flys out of the lift band with each turn.

@@miniphase have you scene John Woodfield RC Gliders channel ? he flys off cornish cliffs, but he flies a lot of giant vintage style ships in the meaerst whiff of breeze and they turn on a dime
@miniphase3 жыл бұрын
@@highster Yup, the lift band is pretty tight, I wonder if I could get away with it by crabbing a floater back and forth (or should that be side to side?).... you've got me wondering now!

@@malakiblunt Hi Philip, yes I love his videos! He's brought about a resurgence in popularity of big, floaty models.... gotta love a giant vintage ship with the sun shining through its covering!
