Seeing the diversity, meeting people you'd never meet in the states, the scenery, learning languages & customs. Such an awesome experience. So jealous. "Such an awesome experience"....like being part of a pit crew in a Baja race. Greeeeaat experience I'd do again without question....but lots of stress, little sleep, and constant thought that the truck could break...then what are we gonna do. I say all this because I realize there are times that the trip is very taxing...but overall you wouldn't change it for the world. PS...watched full ads for you guys since you need the support...lol Support sent. Have several beers on me.

Totally agree. It's nice to have some easy days, but it's the trying ones and the hard fought days you remember. That and the random moments where we met someone and had a connection for a couple minutes. In the next video we're working on the propane shop owner still emails me once a week. I can't believe we're doing it sometimes. Most of the time. Cheers man, thanks for the support. We want to keep this going forever.

Just discovered this great channel and have started binge watching. Awesome to see you are travelling in an 80 and with a rangie. I've owned both of those cars. We travelled around Australia in our 80 and it never missed a beat.

According to you both, what is the best car model to do this kind of trip in south America in sense of easiness of finding car parts? (Defenders? Pajero/Montero? Land Cruiser's?) Thank you in advance!
@SaltySunriseSailing4 жыл бұрын
Hey Edson, each has a plus and minus. Our friends with Land Rovers found it nearly impossible buy parts at normal auto parts store because they're rare, but the "network" of owners clubs was strong in every country so there was always a place to stay and someone who could import or get a part for them. Pajero's were around, but we never had friends with one so it was tough to know how the parts were to find. The Land Cruisers seem to be the best choice, but even in a country with OEM Toyota dealers certain parts were the standard (Standard in Latin America) 30-60 days waiting time to get something imported. They had most parts, but if it was out of stock it could be months to get. It almost seemed better to pay a friends flight to visit us and have them bring parts with them. (Legally or illegally depending on the countries rules regarding car parts) Thankfully we never needed any essential parts over the 2 years and 80k miles and just replaced some bushings as needed when we found some in stock.
