They actually don't show your total or individual weight for privacy purposes. When I asked, the operator told me the system either tells them too heavy, too light or within the operating range and they have to adjust accordingly. So if it's a group of people all at 200+ lbs, they will likely be split up.

Flying turns had all kinds of problems getting completed. It is documented quite well on the internet. Apparently test runs of the original track layout yielded undesirable results. So the opening was delayed while the track was rerouted. I remember going to Knoebels and seeing this thing sitting there closed. A few seasons it remained SBNO. When it finally opened I was able to get on it. It is a pretty neat and unique ride.

If you're asking about the wooden one, Knoebels actually did the entire designing in-house. There were no blueprints left from the old wooden ones that used to exist in the early 20th century. That's why it took them almost 10 years from start of construction to opening.

It's why it took Knoebels seven plus years to open. I've been going there every year since I was a baby and they had it completely built by 2007 although it didn't open until 2014 because they wanted to get it just right. It was entirely built in house using lumber from their lumber yard and it's the only wooden bobsled coaster in the world.

This is surely one of the best front seat POV's of this historic ride . Wish SoCal would have added the history of the WOODEN bobsled coaster on the video so viewers would get a better understanding of this unique ride (Flying Turns) . First one built in 1930 last one built in 1941 then 72 years later Knoebels brought it back to life like they did with the San Antonio Playland Rocket coaster (Phoenix) . Only 8 WOODEN trackless coasters were ever built prior to Knoebels in 2013 .

Screamin' Delta Demon at the now defunct Opryland was one of my favorite rides as a child, it was an Intamin Bobsled ride. They don't look quite as elegant as the wooden ones like in this video, but their steel construction allowed them to be a little bit taller and more intense. Also the roar of those carts down the metal half-pipe was something like, whenever you got near that part of the park you heard this roar that sounded kind of like thunder. Additionally they operate as single sleds and not a train, so it feels and looks more like an actual bobsled. Best I can tell there's only two left operating in the world, Alpine Bobsled (Great Escape, New York) and La Vibora (Six Flags Over Texas). Give them a whirl if you ever find yourself in either of these parks, I can't imagine either installation will be around much longer. So cool to see any Flying Turns or Bobsled coasters still running in 2020! As a side note, my cousins used to always tell us tales of a time that Opryland ran the Screamin Delta Demon in the rain which lead to a car flipping over and a fatality. Personally I've always thought it was more of an urban legend that reality, but I think it would be pretty hard to actually flip one of those. If you did flip however, those roll bars were not very big, I would imagine the injuries would be bad.

This is old but it is incredibly smooth. Could probably take a nap on it if you wanted, though its kinda awkward cause its two people per car and you're practically sitting in the other's lap iirc

That's correct. We posted it as the 2nd point of view on this video to show others the difference between the wooden bobsled and the ordinary steel bobsled from Efteling. Thanks for watching!

I only ever rode one bobsled coaster here in America...I think it was Bush Gardens, FL back in the late 90's or early 00's? It was fun though!

Knobles is a amazing rollercoaster I grew up with tha tbeing the best local themepark 100% recommend if you like camping there is a camping area I never been there but I heard it was good not crazy fun but peaceful with a theme park next to it its in P.A. Knobles is the worlds biggest free entry theme park the 2 other big wooden coasters are awsome they used to be better but there still Great I would give it a 10/10 park if you have been there or go there tell me what you rate it edit: the second one isnt at Knobles :I

Growing up just outside Hershey I can say with out a doubt Knobles is a better experience than Hershey park with out a doubt. Quiet, peaceful,friendly..the complete opposite of Hershey in every way.

The long gone but beloved Riverview Park in Chicago had a trackless bobsled coaster also called the Flying Turns. I was too young to ride it before the park closed, but Six Flags over Great America built one many years later which I was able to enjoy. I think it was called Rolling Thunder. Seemed like it was only there for a few years and I always wondered if that was because of safety issues.

Rolling Thunder is now at at Great Escape in Queensbury NY ( Alpine Bobsled) since 1998. It was at Great America from 1989 to 1995 and it first started out at Great Adventure NJ as Sarajevo Bobsled in 1984.

Flinging Runs are the best coaters. There was one at Euclid Beach Park in Cleveland. The park was torn down some time in the late 60s. Before the Flying turns was torn down a friend and I climbed to the top and ran down the wooden shut.

Don’t worry I’ve read the history on this one of a kind coaster. First off it’s the only coaster in the world like this with the bobsled esk tracks second off they went through all the required tests so you’ve got nothing to worry about.
