I'm in England, and my generation were at the forefront of British football terrace violence in the 80s and 90s, when European football took UK hooligans to international infamy, and violence was an absolute guarantee at every single match. I was never part of it, but anyone who followed a club in England in the 80s and 90s saw the violence week in, week out. It's faded away now with the huge increase in global audiences, which brought down an iron fist on football hooligans and has all but eradicated football violence within British stadiums, with all seater stadiums, CCTV, increased sentencing powers and dedicated policing units. In places like Russia, Italy, turkey and Poland especially, the violence is so organised that it's almost inconceivable, even to old skool British football lads like me who saw the worst of British football violencen when it was at its worst. It's MENTAL how much effort they put into it, and what's very noticeable is the higher ages that eastern European, Turkish and Italian fans remain tied to their ultra organisations. Often well into their 30s, 40s and even 50s, which is almost unheard of now in Britain, outsode of the London clubs, who always had a lot of older lads in their terrace culture down there.

This goes beyond mere football hooliganism. They are well trained and "allowed" to function by the State without any repercussions. This is smart by the Russian state, they are channeling the energy of young Russian's into something useful, a potential ready made militia when needed.
@PowermadNavigator5 жыл бұрын
4:18 he's right, though. French police also had AMPLE chances in the months preceding the 2016 Cup to train and get experience in handling large protesting violent crowds and they really didn't handle the foreign fans, especially the Russians properly. When you think about it, France has had no end of protests in the past several years, but that's a different topic. No major incidents in last year's world cup hosted by Russia, though. Their police works and works on less of a budget likely. Can you argue with cold hearted effectiveness? Not with a Russian... On a side note: 1:23 I need to step up my game if scum like that have girlfriends, haha.

The girl at the start of the documentary is an absolute disgrace to Vice. She knows nothing about the topic and in her short 20 second introduction 3 main pieces of factual information she provided were wrong: 1) 0:09 There is no such thing as the 'euro cup' it is specifically called the European championships. 2) 0:14 The hooligans weren't just from Moscow, they were from all over Western Russia, with noticeable other cities including, St Petersburg, Rostov and Oryol. 3) 0:18 She says Russia will be hosting the same cup (European Championships) in 2018 when they are hosting the World cup instead - completely different competition. She needs to be fired ASAP, she literally had 20 seconds to cover and couldn't even be bothered to research this stuff which she would find out is incorrect via a quick google search.

These Russian hooligans may be onto something without realizing it: Group fighting as a competitive martial arts sport, pitting teams of designated numbers against each other in refereed matches. They could even publicly stage these matches in the stadiums prior to soccer matches, with the soccer teams' attached firms battling for prizes of their own. Also group attacks beget group defense, so I expect the smarter firm chieftains from other countries are studying these guys and their methods, just as various police forces are. So it may eventually be out of necessity that these firms find ways to stage these fights more formally and legitimately, making money off admissions, concessions and bookmaking as with any other sport. It also might be good to promote group self-defense classes for girls who like to go places together, especially in places where group attacks have been occurring.

The worst thing is that so many terrorist attacks in Europe were originally planed to target football/socker fans, but something always went wrong. For example the Brussels airport attacks should have taken place at stadium, but then they got scared waiting and quickly attacked. Too bad, just imagine these football fans exploding, and the terrorists exploding. Victim-less crime.

Don’t get me wrong these Russians are tough kids, but the England fans they attacked were just that “fans” the English hooligans weren’t there due to 4000 of them not being allowed to leave the uk during the tournament, a very hollow victory for the Russians 🤷♂️

@markharrington92655 жыл бұрын
Frank it’s common knowledge that there was 4000 banning orders in place preventing thugs from England to travel to France, the Russians beat up drunk English teenagers, and some genuine England fans who had no interest, a great result👍🏻

These people look really scary in real life I bet... but now when I watch this I'm just like: "Wtf. Why? What is wrong with these people" Also if they really need to fight, why can't the government provide a safe and legal way for them to do this without harming others, since they support them so much.
@janinewetzler50372 жыл бұрын
Well...since February of 2022, I wager a LOT of hooligans' went into Ukraine to fight, (most likely a lot have been the rapists in Northern cities, and Eastern ones too), so, yeah, there is a 'legal' outlet for them...NOW!

@@Swiat_The-Tsar I agree my friend. But they over simplify it they make us look like mindless thugs. They don't tell them about our rules Or about all the charity work we do. They only briefly mentioned the training which was obviously not a real training session just a mess around. The training I tough really professional everyday no alcohol no smoking no drugs.
