The ideas in SEL sound great but in order for it to work your kids need to be data mined. The WEF, that funds this program, does not even pretend that this is not the case. People fussing about CRT are worried about the wrong thing. This is about turning the classroom into a digital coal mine where your kids are providing a product for big data.

My kid is going to school next year and all I is to have the curriculum be allowed to see a class thought. And I will be asking my child about everything they learned that day just like mom used to do for me and I’ll decide from there if i need find a new school. It’s exhausting to worry about this things. When I was in high school teacher were fine but substitutes would be the once teaching only about their opinion my friends and I would look at each other and knew that it was all propaganda but smaller children wouldn’t know that.

Schools should not be taking over the job of being a parent. For example, I’ve been meditating for over 20 years. Like a religion, meditation should not be pushed onto children. These topics that children are now being taught are very personal decisions that should be decided by a parent only.

CRT obviates the need for any thought, word or act of racism as proof of their presumed verdict. All they need is their preferred race measuring less favorably than another. Regardless of the cause: they declare their favored race to be victims of the other. Then they would use real government enforced discrimination in response to their presumed discrimination; altering laws, policies and practices to favor their preferred race. All for the stated purpose of forcibly making the measurements between races identical. The operative question is whether you support using government force to implement racial discrimination. All the rest is academic. My answer is no.

Virtually none of this controversy has anything to do with history. It came up briefly over the 1619 Project (because this project went so far as to sacrifice method and accuracy in order to center race), but other than that history curricula is seldom discussed except as a smear to say "what the anti-CRT/SEL camp *really* wants." The controversy actually concerns activists toying around with *every aspect of education,* from school policy to mathematics to emotional literacy training. Regarding SEL, specifically, this is superficially an alright thing (and its early implementations were relatively positive), but the current torchbearer is CASEL. If you go to that organization's website, the language it uses is flagrantly political. Giving them the power to decide how emotions ought be managed is also giving them the power to decide *which* emotions ought be managed and which ought be validated by the teacher and others in the class. That's an awful lot of power to be giving to a small group of unaccountable people.
