Social Entropy Engine - Snapshots & Song Tutorial

This video tutorial shows you how to build a simple song structure (intro/verse/chorus) with the Social Entropy Engine.
It covers pattern basics, creating snapshots, and sequencing snapshots into a song with step sequencing.

Yes!! I've been wanting this video in particular from you. I get so little time to play with my toys that after several months I still haven't taken any time to learn how to do snapshots or song mode yet... Every time I get to use the Engine I just want to program in some beats and jam. Now in 10 minutes I know how and my jams will get better haha. You rock.

I heard that the octatrack can only output monophonic midi sequences. That would be quite a limitation for me :(

Hey Niel! Great video. I have never used this feature... I have been trying to work on my performance skills and typically I never use any pre-made songs that loop.. I tend to get confused with technical stuff like this so I just avoid it hahaha. I think I could use this option as it is very user friendly works seamlessly and idot proof. ; ) I was wondering if you have a Soundcloud channel with some music I may listen to? Also, I have some questions maybe you could help out with.

hollsound hi. If you've never used hardware before you will find it slow to learn. In theory all the features you find in a daw sequencer are there but many are wrapped up in multiple button presses (function keys) it's great once you get the hang of it though.

How do you transpose more than one track at a time?

I'm trying to do a structure where the first snap shot repeats three times and then the second snapshot repeats once. I want to take that 3 + 1 structure and repeat that 3 times but then I want to end with the first snapshot repeated 8 times. From what I've seen it looks like song mode really can't be that in depth. Simply just a repeat of a few patterns or am I wrong?

Can you save your snapshots or songs for later use? Is this through flash?

EverettDudgeon138 you can export your data via over a midi connection as sysex data to a computer and then send it back. Kinda like a backup and restore procedure

Blatend Crude 8 on one track... you can however have more than one drum track
