Social media, caravan motorhome archives vlog

social media - hmm I dont use Twitter much and I can also now begin to sort out the archives a bit better though way behind - just general caravan chat and me going off at a tangent!!

Hi Andy, enjoyed your vlog straight and honest as usual. I wouldn't change one thing on your channel and for your genuine followers you are The Caravan Industry Expert. I knew very little about caravans and myself and Mrs F. have purchased 2 caravans solely from your KZbin reviews and advice. By following you we have learned a lot about the different layouts and even window polishing, scratch removal etc and enjoy the hobby very much. As for you being" Big Headed " you never come across to me that way you're videos and vlogs come across like you're a good friend. You are always there for people looking for advice on best suited caravan layouts for their needs, what more can you do?. Have owned 2 Eldiss Xplore caravans and find them great value for the money and only had very minor little issues, like door catch adjustments which the dealer put right. Sure everyone to their own opinion but I am a big fan and look forward to your next videos. Head and keep going.

Hi Andy, all I can say is I enjoy your vlogs and stories and i look forward when your new vlogs are uploaded. I enjoy the history of caravanning and the way you tell it. If you were on Mastermind and the other contestants also had their specialised topic of The History Of Caravans you'd wipe the floor with them no matter who in the industry they were! What an archive!...all I've got in the loft is an 80"s Tesco bag with my 2 years worth of school work books leading up to my O levels in 1984! Look forward to your next vlog Thanks Andy !

Ha ha I would probably clam up on Mastermind and bore the audience to!! I love history but began collecting as a child in 1969 and my wife would love for me to have your archive! Our front room is still full and I mean full its a work in process sorting out and trying to make sure stuff is safe, and sorted and easy to get at! Thank you for your kind words and my next vlog is about the downturn in the late 70's into the 80s - you would enjoy my book caravanning in the 1970's! Thank you again its appreciated.

Andy, not many people out there are bothering to archive what I see as a very important part of UK leisure and holiday culture during the 20th century. It all seems to be about jetting off for two weeks in other countries these days, doesn’t it. So many families took to Caravanning in the 70s and 80s, it was a simple cost effective way to have a holiday that didn’t involve huge amounts on a credit cards. You could pick up a used van that wasn’t very old for not much money and head for the coast! I’ve saved two of your books that I’ve bought for when I’m away for a couple of short weekends, and a week in Devon during the summer. We still go vanning as a family, even though my children are full adults now. Caravanning is in their blood, but sadly they won’t tow once i stop, as they only drive tiny cars. Since finding a few utube channels of late, including yours of course, my enthusiasm for the hobby has taken off again, even though I can well afford those two weeks abroad 😁 Keep up the good work in showing us new and old vans 👍

Thank you for that great comment and your right - I loved my first caravan in 1985 and it was a great value holiday. I loved the different sites and places and interesting folk we met. Its such a shame that your children wont go caravanning my daughter is the same she loved it making her first trip out at 2 weeks old. A big thank you for purchasing the books and I hope you find them interesting as I did producing them and would love to hear feed back after. Morning Andy. My children are all still coming on most trips out if they have enough holiday days available, they absolutely love caravanning, in fact they were the reason we swopped to a Phoenix +650 at the beginning of the year to get fixed bunks. It’s just owning tiny cars, and a lack of towing confidence that would stop them towing in the future. I’m looking forward to reading your books in the most appropriate surrounding - in the van with a cuppa! I really enjoyed the Sprite book, which I bought many years ago when we bought our Sprite 😊

You will enjoy the Swift tour - they did this back in the early 90's to public - did a article on a public tour , then they stopped. I have been round many times since and one day they sent a search out dfor me I had wandered and chating to guys on the line! - thank you for the praise its appreciated - enjoy your day

I know Andy times have moved on but I also thought Caravan Life was a good mag and sorry when it stopped. Back in those days you used to get free gifts with mags I still have the little spirit level from Caravan Mag the weight sticker you put in your car window saying weight of car and caravan. Thing is we older people live in the past.

Colin that was a great mag I cut my teeth on that but it became What Caravans then Caravan Buyer and Go Caravan never the same, yes still have that spirit level to though its a little faded and my caravan magazine coasters - I dont think we live in the past but the past teaches us a lot and I for one am glad that I met a lot of the older chaps in the industry - listened and learnt and respected them and today there is little of that-thanks Colin.

Hi Andy we have a 2009 Bailey Ranger 460 series 6 fixed bed 1206 kg we have been trying to find a replacement but all are much heavier our car is on the weight limit we also do Steam Rallies with a Transit van with with 1/2 a Ton of engines in the back which is also on the weight limit we have had a look at the Bailey D4 but its not as Good as a Ranger with its poor Design front window backend and the inside is not very Good either have any ideas Please. thanks Andrew.

Hi Andrew - It is a problem - The Rangers were excellent right from the first models in 96/7 - my replacement would be a Sprite Alpine 4 so same layout as your 460/4 - the market is thin on the ground these days sadly so I would say check out the Alpine 4 if you havent already - there are used models around so I would check using Caravan Finder as a good guide. Yep Rangers have never had a proper replacement since - thats my opinion! The Disco I have reviewed on here its ok light and relatively cheap but front window is let down as is the exterior for me. Hoping next month to do a wash on my Ranger and a video on what I use - polish as well as car shampoo - let me know how you get on.

Crackin little rant Andy, there’s nowt worse that someone telling you you’re wrong when you know full well you’re 100% right, with 50 plus years of absolute passion in what you do I would say you’ve every right to call yourself an expert. Ah thank you Paul - yes didnt want to name anybody thats not right - but you get where I am coming from - Just been in the loft looking for info on a caravan from 1963 ! Its a court case I am helping out on for a past crime - and they need to know info on age model etc with old pix they have. A bit more involved than I first thought and I may have to give historical evidence on he van . I do get some interesting jobs! Thanks for your support as usual I will carry on regardless!!!

In social media everyones allowed and has an oppinion. Things change over the years and people need to adapt. It's sad that you have made this video, as i myself have unfollowed all youre content now. There was no need for you to say "he dont know what he's talking about" you could have just said we are all allowed our own views and oppinions. There is a lot of great caravaners on Twitter and some great content & chat between them. It's a great place to be. Facebook is good too. some fantastice groups for vintage and other types of caravans which thousands of members. Fair play to anyone that can make things work. Good luck.

Thats part of it you were influenced but there is a lot of fake info not always intentional agreed but I get a lot of folk telling me they have a van and have been told incorrectly the info. Vote with you press of a button - thats what its about and I didnt say everybody to be fair but hopefully you may come back at some stage otherwise thank you for your time and comment.
