Parents want to outsource the job of raising their children to tech execs. Here is a solution, keep the kids off social media until they’re 18.

Took the words out my mouth. Just because it's new and trending doesn't mean expose your children to. I know it's hard when u have to work everyday and it seems ok to distract your kids with technology but is the risks worth the rewards.

Here's an idea: When you give kids phones, tell them that you will be checking them periodically. And DO it! It's not "snooping"; it's the terms by which they must abide if they want access. Kids who know they're being monitored just stay away from dangerous situations.

And here we go again, parents blaming everyone else but themselves. Social media is not a public utility, it is not a necessity for everyday living. It is a parents responsibility to know what their children are doing. If you're too busy or too lazy to supervise your child, then don't give them access to social media. As far as I know, not giving your child access to social media is not against the law or child abuse. So stop blaming others for your laziness or lack of time to see what your children are doing.

Isn't this failure of parenting 🤔 not monitoring their children? How are social media execs responsible for this? Also, I don't consider 16-17yo little children who doesn't understand the consequences of using social media... maybe just stupid to take the risk in the first place

From my perspective, this was a complete waste of time, when Congress people own stock in these companies, and these companies allegedly work for the CIandA! If you want to protect kids, put the bible and discipline back in schools, and the ones over forty, in Congress, already know this is what's wrong with the kids in this country. Replace DHS with parents that fear God and not kids! Feeds kids real food like they do in Japan, and don't give them phones until they are sixteen years old. Problem solvers are not in Washington DC!
