When I first got into the ‘digital art’ and online art scene in the late 90’s early 2000’s ‘Deviant Art’ had just launched, and there was also a community called ‘Elf Wood’ for posting works. It was a blend of the forums and Art Station. So you still had good conversations and feedback. One of the biggest detriments I’ve seen, and you touched on this, is the pressure to post frequently. So I think people are not as motivated to put in the hours to create the epic work you use to see. So you end up with a bunch of cute girl floating heads 🤣 Which don’t get me wrong have their place in the world…but feel the algorithm is pushing people that direction! Also, Happy New Year! One of my resolutions is to find an art community this year!

Great video. I'm wondering what a cool discord channel would be for passionate comic artists wanting to produce very high quality work

Unfortunately, I don't know any of those. Maybe David Finch's channel here on KZbin has something like that or Proko.

Great video! After about 5 years of learning art almost by myself, I'm still searching for a nice small group to engage with and have a nice friendly competitivity

Glad you liked it! Unfortunately, it has a little bit to do with luck and being at the right place at the right time. Also, for introverts I imagine this can be a real struggle to find and get to know people to study with.

Second this. It really feels like there's no community hub for artists. Artstation had some hope before it backstabbed everyone.

I’ve added 2 discord links to the description. Don’t know if they can be of any help :)

Thank you for making a detail video. When I started drawing I used facebook as the platform but, I didn't get the critiques that I need at that time then, I switched to twitter but I didn't get any attention then I switch to artstation but I've become more frustrate than before. And now I used reddit and here I don't get upvote (likes) but, I'm getting comment pointing out my mistake. I didn't think about discord can be useful thank you for recommending.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I thought Reddit could be an option, but as I'm a complete ignorant about it, I left it out. Great to know it works for sharing art feedback :)
